We Q'd!!! by Smiley on 08 April 2012 - 21:19 |
| My pup got her first ever AKC "Q" today when she scored a 92 in rally novice!! She evn placed in the ribbons!! Woohoo!!!! I was a nervous wreck!! My expectations were not that high as she is just 10 months old and it was a big show (same place and time as breed so about 1200 dogs in building). So, I am very proud of her!! Sara |

| Great job! The RN is a great beginning for new dogs (and handlers)... and a 92 is a very nice score :) |

| Got our second leg in Rally Novice A today (with a not so great score of 85 as she was pretty distracted) and our first leg in Beginner Novice A obedience with a 185 (judge said most of my deductions were handler error... She was a good breed ambassador today though making lots of new friends with both exhibitors and spectators and had a 9 year old girl, literally, hugging and kissing her every time she saw us!! hahaha I saw a lot of the breed ring faces smile at that one as they seemed shocked a GSD would let a strange child hug and kiss them!! I also got a lot of comments on what a nice, good tempered GSD she was and it was good to see the "old style" GSD back in ring.....That always makes me laugh a bit as I always think of Rin Tin Tin when I hear "old style"!! | 185 and 85 are both good scores; most dogs lose for handler's errors including mine!! Congratulations! |

| Sara, at the end of the day, it's whether the dog qualifies or not. Dogs can't be held responsible for handler's errors and most people who have shown in OB, rally, agility, tracking, etc don't normally get hung up on scores unless they are very competitive and in search of higher OB titles. The owners who are score crazy generally have the "easy" dogs like BC, poodles, shelties. The last trial I showed in Novice B only 5 qualified out of 11 or 12. The judge's comment - a lot more handler's errors than dog errors today. Frankly, I liked it a lot better when I was showing years ago. There were no OB champion titles or any of this other BS that depends on dogs performing like robots. Just give me a green ribbon and I'm happy. |

| Thanks guys!! Blitzen, yeah but good scores are cool too!!! Hehehe But, I am just happy to Q but secretly hope for decent scores!! I know what it takes to score high from watching the top partnerships and a good team makes it look fun and they seem to have fun doing it! Someday we'll get there!! My little girl got her 3rd rally novice leg today with a second place and a 93! Our first rally title woohoo!!! AND....drumroll.......she WON her beginner novice obedience with a 190.5 for her second leg!! I'm all smiles right now!! I bought her a new toy to keep her relaxed and we tugged all show! I wanted to make sure she has fun.... So, I tried to make it a day of fun and playing where there just happened to be a couple classes thrown in!! :-0 Thanks again to all for the continued support!! You guys are awesome!! Sara |

That's Great! I too do not worry about getting high scores , but when jimmy is on he usually gets a 2nd or 3rd place finish. Have fun in showing your dog in Rally and obedience. Mine also has a great Temperment and I am always showing him to people at shows because of it. | Pat, Wow!! He is gorgeous and so very talented. No progeny...too bad!!! Great job..you must be so proud of him!!! Yeah, I guess the people I train with who have mostly goldens are score oriented. They are very hard core!! I am definitely NOT hard core!! They like to win the High In Trial and stuff. They think anyone scoring anything lower than 90s or 190s don't belong in the ring!! Oh, well. I am proud of her anyway! Also, I didn't mention we were next to the photographer and people started to get their pictures taken right when we started our pattern. So, they were squeaking those toys and for my very high play drive puppy that was almost a bit too much!! She kept wipping her head around and I was like.."Dear, God...stop"!! Sara |
