How many will she litter this time?

My girl gave birth last time to 12 very healthy puppies, 5 boys and 7 girls. She is again pregnant and is going to whelp around the 19th July.

Will she go for 12 or will have less.

How old is she, and what number is this litter? If this is her second I may say 9. Good number

I agree, how old is she?  how many times was she bred this time?  Is this her first litter?  I've had females bred only once or twice and had nice litter of 6-9, and females bred as many as 4 times, that have had up to 14. 

Would need more info first! :)

26 months old. This is her second litter. Tummy is not so large as last time.

Ladywolf, thats good info, i never knew the # of times the females was bred would effect the litter size.

Impossible to say. All depends on timing, sperm and eggs, condition of the uterus. With that said and so as not to tick off the fertility gods, I am going to say 10 ;-). I am expecting a litter on the 17th and don't want bad juju. :-) Good luck to you- will you x-ray ahead of time? Theresa

I really try hard not to be nasty on line but 2 litters and only 26 months old, your poor puppy !!!

How about hips has she been x-rayed yet ? Or are you just selling puppies to unsuspecting new owners.

Well, she is doing well. I just have my own theories which if you want I will PM you. Her hips are good, mentioned by a vet.

We didnt want her to conceive but since nobody is doing AI here, I gave it a shot. It worked. Now only I wish it is a small litter.

Didn't this female have a litter in Jan09?   I remember you posting about weaning the litter early. She had 12 puppies in that litter, now she's having more, ridiculous!!!!  Sorry, but i just do not agree with breeding a female every season, especially after rearing 12 pups. Just my opinion!! Liz.
