| "It was possibly a medication reaction/medication induced torsion." I've never heard of this, nor did I find much info about drug induced torsion. Should other dog owners be warned of the specific medication(s)? Or is this an extra rare side effect? |

| Very hard to write this without breaking down. Every day I look at my boy and see his Daddy Caleb. I wish I could convey what a magnificent presence he had. Physically spectacular but mentally, what a dog. So much confidence, so much power, so much reasoned judgment, so much devotion to Jennifer. Caleb never met a challenge he would back down from and never met a child or puppy he was not gentle with. This was the epitome of what the German Shepherd character should be. He was the most magnificent son that Dargo had. There will never be another Caleb, but there are a few of his progeny from the one litter he did have that might be close and hopefully will continue the wonderful traits I saw in a most wonderful and powerful work of God. For someone who asked, predisone is known to cause indigestion, gastric distress and gas in humans and Caleb was taking it (Google prednisone and gas)...he had no other risk factors other than being a German Shepherd. I would be happy to send people links to scholarly articles going back to the 50s documenting the link between gastric distress, indigestion and prednisone. There is no eveidence to suggest dogs would be immune from this side effect. |

| While I do not know either Caleb or Jenni, loss is universal; and it hurts no matter if it were a human child lost or a fur child. I hope you will always keep the fondest memories in your heart and that time will ease the pain you now feel. Warm regards, -K and Beau |

| RIP CALEB Hope you find some peace in the fact that owners of his PUPS have highest of PRAISE about your CALEB... THAT FACT always keeps our hearts and mind more able to accept each waking hour from now on. YR |

| Prednisone causes fluid retention type of bloating. Bloat (aka gastric torsion) and bloating (swelling of the abdominal area) are different. This is only to clarify for those whose dogs are on prednisone and may become alarm with such statements said above. Best to discuss these issues with your vet. Also, the same side effects are not always seen in different species. So it cant be assumed because there is a side effect in humans that there is one in dogs. RIP Caleb |

| Hunger4justice hit the nail on the head right there. Caleb was spectacular, and I am so glad I and my family had the pleasure of meeting him. My grandma was particularly fond of him, and I thought she was going to start crying when I told her. She is just as shocked as I am, and says "I'm glad I got to pet him. He was such a cool dog." I'm here for you, Jen... if you need anything, don't be afraid to give me a call! Rest in Peace, Caleb.... |

| All of us here share the love of these dogs and most of us have had dogs pass through our lives. Some of them touch us more deeply than others. From reading your posts over time it is clear that he was very dear to you. I can only imagine how difficult this must be for you and your family and my heart hurts for you. His time here was no doubt cut short, I am sure that you have a million fantastic memories of great times spent with your georgous Caleb. | Jen, I am so sorry for the loss of your special boy Caleb. Reading the forums makes you feel like you've gotten to know many of the people and their dogs, so there is real sadness in reading about Caleb's passing. Thinking of you and your gentle spirited Caleb, who had the heart of a warrior. Jennifer |

| Jen, Im so very sorry to hear of Calebs passing,my heart aches for you. When Dargo passed, a kind admirer of his sent me this and it fit so perfectly as I know it will for you and Caleb. " I shall see beauty but none to match your living grace. I shall hear music but none as sweet as the song with which you loved me. I shall fill my days but shall not, cannot forget.
