How is 12's conformation better then 1, 2, 6, 7, 9, 10, 11? I know you gave some comments but i seriously cannot see it. I might just not know what to look at.

So far overall people are liking the dogs numbered on page two. The folks that usually critisize angulation and working lines together are staying quiet and bursting at the seams lol. Cmon, everybody put your two cents in.
If your late catching up. I placed some of my favorites on page one. Some comments led to a little test of sorts on page two. Go take a look and play.

I just can't take away my eyes from Quentino von Arlett.

I think it's typical to get different critiques of the same dogs from different people. Judges don't often agree either. Beauty truly is in the eye of the beholder.

Ibrahim - I know right. I said the same thing about Furbo long time ago, and look what happenned. Of course, I cant take all the credit lol..I am saying it again, that dog will become very important.

I'd love to see them, but this dial up makes it very hard and mostly impossible to download all the pics.
I will say that don't like a steep slope on a dog and/or angulation in the rear so prefer many of the WL's .
Bomber in my opinion is weak in the pasterns and has more rear angulation than I prefer.

That is so true! What some people call a beautiful dog, makes me cringe. I must say, my taste has changed. Before I looked at a dog pictured, and just noticed the head, colour or bone, now I look much much closer.
I really prefer to see a dog not standing in a stacked position, as it is easier to see how it is really put together IMO.

Most dogs we have posted are set up with their outside hock back too far, not at a right angle to the ground giving them a bit more slope to their backlines than they would probably have standing naturally.

Ohhh I understand stacked mean the way the dog ins standing in shows.
I agree that they can look more sloped than overall but most gsd is sloped if you compare it to a mal
I have not put any dogs I like in this thread because I have done it before, and there are many dogs I like that does not mean I like the built of the dog because I like it working abilities or look ,because I like the very old gsd from the 30' s the way it was built back then not now
by SitasMom on 02 April 2012 - 15:54
myret - gsd's are not mal's if they were the same why would there be different breeds? if you prefer mals, or dutchies, or dobies, or whatever dog it is, that's fine, but don't go running down other breeds. Each breed has a ideals or a standard that breeders are supposed to try to attain. that being said, a gsd's back is "supposed" to be slightly sloped.....
by joanro on 02 April 2012 - 16:51
The key word is, "slightly". Also, Straight, not roached or "hinged",( the most bizarre thing I've ever seen bred into a dog).

Jyl, I heard that Lasso was a great working dog too.

I see a lot of absolutely gorgeous dogs on here. I'm enjoying this thread.
by myret on 02 April 2012 - 18:33
maybe you dont like it but there are millions of people that just hates the gsd sloping back many choose another breed just becuase of that and maybe a gsd is not a mal but is sure was bred to have the same body built like a mal not like we see today and 30' years back like a mal
they look like bananas or a disabled dog who goes on his hocks so no I will not stop and criticize the breed because it has never been bred to resemble a krypling so maybe a few videos here to take people back to what the gsd was and should look like athletic and well built
sorry to say but a gsd was bred to have a body more like a mal than a frog and im sure the as far as I know the gsd is a dog not a frog
by myret on 02 April 2012 - 18:34
I like this Condor
he has really proved he can work awsome dog , we should have more of these dogs around
by myret on 02 April 2012 - 18:36
another thing if you call the gsd back slightly sloped then I must be blind look at how they move their their athletic form not just a slightly slope sorry frog is what I would call most of them
by SitasMom on 02 April 2012 - 18:39
Blitzen you are posting some beautiful examples of winning gsd from the past. I also prefer dogs of similar conformation, and is what I strive to produce.
