though the illistration doesn't show it, the breed standard is much like the FCI standard.

What can be done for a dog who has a broken tooth?  In UScA, there is a procedure using a form from a vet dentist stating that the tooth was there.  Showing that the loss of a tooth was an accident and not genetic.

No mention of the natural flying trot where the GSD is suspended for a second or two in the correct trot, not the trot of a race horse on the track.  [as seen in the AKC GSD race track with the long legged handler racing behind a scared dog]

AKC can only change the standard when directed to do so by GSDCA and their members must approve the changes.

I wanted to add something to my post but I have been told that my post is "TOO OLD"!  I am Forbidden 403.

Sooooo I have to do a new post and waste space!!!

I am NOT getting OT about teeth.  The UKC Standard says NO MISSING teeth.  What if in doing protection, a tooth is so broken that it has to be reoved???  The Standard does NOT cover that problem.  NO Tooth, no ribbon, so to speak!!!  With UScA, one does a Dental Notation.  So, the broken tooth as per UKC is as bad as NO tooth.  My dog broke a tooth and I had the vet dentist do all the documentation in case I showed her.  Did not show her, so no Notation.

So, this Standard is not so perfect.  My German dogs have good structure and can trot beautifully and yet fly across the area to catch whatever needs to be caught.  They are so beautiful as per the public, but according to this wonderful Standard, one dog would be cut from the ribbons due to a tooth broken in being a working dog!!!!  Stupid Standard.  Off I go to pet my dogs and save money by not being approved by one of these judges.
