Finger pointing has no place at the top.  In any given organization those at the top are responsible for results.  Period.  For starters, why was the date for NUSC chosen within 2 weeks of a national sieger show in the same state??  There's the first and probably fatal flaw.

As a WDA member I have sat back and watched the new Board for the last 4 months.  All that we have been hearing was how bad the previous Board had been and that the "New" Board was going to do so many great things!!!!  Well listed below is my list of this "New" Board's successes.......

  • WDA magazine Jan-Feb issue LATE, not received until 4/13
  • WDA magazine Mar-Apr issue not yet received, already late!
  • Nationals ad in Jan-Feb issue for an event to be held April 13,14,15, since magazine received so late ad was not relevant.
  • No ads in Jan-Feb issue for NUSC or NASS, why not?
  • No e-mail regarding NUSC until 4/20 Hundegram.  Event entry deadline 4/21
  • No NASS committee or website yet and event is less than 6 months away
  • No NASS advertising or e-mails promoting the event.
  • There is no information regarding NASS on the WDA “ALL Events” page, it is only listed on the “National Events” page, why?  All events means all events.
  • A third of the year is over and still no approved budget for 2012
  • Still no approved version of the new Breed Survey rules that went into effect on 1/1/2012
  • I have yet to receive any information at all from my Regional Director around any issues or promoting any events.
  • The Board meeting minutes from April 2011, July 2011 and the Membership meeting of 2011 are still not posted on the GSDCA-WDA website.  Per a post on FaceBook from Sally Blount the April and July meeting minutes have been approved so why have they not been posted?  Why are the Membership meeting minutes not yet been posted?
  • No meeting minutes from the Jan Board meeting or the Feb or Mar special Board meetings from this year have yet been posted
  • Why are Board meeting agendas not published on the WDA website?  While posting them on the Official Facebook site is nice, there are currently only 349 members of the group and ALL persons are not WDA members, so less than 25% of the membership has access to the information.
  • In 2011 all National events had on-line entry forms that accepted on-line payments.  For both the Nationals and the NUSC neither had an on-line entry form or accepted online payments, why not?
  • NUSC 2011 had 85 entries, NUSC 2012 has 35 entries.  In 2011 all entry information that was contained in the catalog was posted on the website immediately after entries closed.  There is nothing on the 2012 site, not even the total number of entries.
  • The WDA held 18 conformation shows in 2011.  All but 3 had more entries than this year’s NUSC.
2011_Total_Entries_By_Event
Event Totals
2011 North American Sieger Show 363
2011 National Universal Sieger Championship 85
2011 Mid-Western Regional Conformation Show 78
2011 Southeastern Regional Conformation Show 78
2011 Topline German Shepherd Dog Club Conformation Show 70
2011 Carolina German Shepherd Working Dog Club Conformation Show 57
2011 Prairie State Dog Club Conformation Show 54
2011 Orange County Schaeferhund Klub Conformation Show 53
2011 O.G. Hauptstadt Conformation Show 50
2011 Oklahoma Working Dog Association Conformation Show 47
2011 Southwest Diamond back Schaferhunde Club Conformation Show 45
2011 Deutscher Schaferhunde Club Conformation Show 41
2011 Wesley Chapel Total Dog Training Club Conformation Show 39
2011 Atlanta Schutzhund Verein Conformation Show 38
2011 Working German Shepherd Dog Club of East Conn Conformation Show 38
2011 Pacific Northwestern Regional Conformation Show 34
2011 Wesconn Schaeferhund Verein Conformation Show 30
2011 Southern Pacific Regional Conformation Show 23

  • Where are the results of the by-law ballots that were supposed to be counted at the April Board meeting?  Did any of the proposed by-laws pass?

GSDObserver--read my post on page 8 regarding the April  By-Law Proposal ballots and what happened there.  Enjoyed your informative post very much about some very pathetic performances on the part of a very ineffective Board!  Let's see how they try to worm out of your detailed presentation of facts, which says it all.  I think some resignations should be forthcoming.  They constantly remind members that they "are volunteers."  Well, maybe "they" should consider volunteering to resign before the WDA self-implodes.

There were important WDA bylaw amendments in the pipeline for board consideration in July 2011.  The WDA Board never got to that part of the agenda. Some of the amendments were initiated by the WDA Colorado attorneys.  Those proposed amendments were practical (allowing business/notification/voting to occur via 21st century technology), clarifications (who, exactly, is a voting member?)  Most important, IMHO, was an amended mission statement that reflects the WDA reality.

The WDA bylaws are for a PERFORMANCE ONLY organization--no conformation shows, no NASS, no breed surveys, nothing that even remotely smacks of being breed related.  Why?  Because any such provisions would put the WDA in conflict with the GSDCA.

GSDObserver:
Thank you for all of your very informative information.
I am saddened to see the very poor NUSC lack of interest....or is it lack of information given to the membership?
Last quarter I complained about the lack of content in the WDA magazine, but getting it out so late sure does not help the clubs who have shows coming up build an entry.
I feel as though too few people on the board are doing too many jobs and none of them well.
This is an organization I have belonged to for over 10 years. My regional club is a WDA club and we have had very successful shows over the years. We have sponsered National trophies and encouraged members to show and trial their dogs. If things don't improve I really don't know where the WDA is going, if anywhere but down.
The NASS is 5 months away. No committee has been approved. I have been asking for a logo since November so that I can have clothing made for the show....NOTHING!
Wouldn't you think that a show this important, and so profitable would be organized at least a year ahead of time, not thrown together in a few months?

GSD Observer and Openmind,

Thank you for providing facts, something this board seems to continually avoid.

Any suggestions on what WDA members can do to get this board to accept responsibility for their actions and get the WDA back on track?

Could someone please tell us what the "GSDCA-WDA Newsletter" is?  Is it the "monthly" magazine?

Judron raised the 2013 WUSV World Championship question.  It's a WUSV event and they will do whatever it takes to ensure it functions smoothly even if they have to push the host out of the way,.  Remember how the Germans do business.

Dear Itismyopinion,

Demanding information, in a bullying fashion, is a tactic employed by the "head".  Please tell the world who YOU might be.

gck, you are absolutely right and I do not even know who you are and I do NOT care!!!!!  Thanks!!  And the head has moles on this list.

And after that comment "opinion," I will not help you now, no matter who You are.  Do not understand that nastiness or the cause of it.  AND is that nastiness going to get You more support from others on this list?  Maybe you are just One of the moles on this list.

With you and the rest of the nastys in WDA, it makes UScA look like they were right with the JA!!!  And I do not belong to UScA either!!!

I looked at the website for the votes on the three amendments and cannot find any information.  So, I called a few important members or clubs or breeders and they did not know the vote count.

When is the next National Conference call?  Will there be one?  Will there be a budget?  Will there be any information for those who trial ?

Just wondering, as others have already asked those questions.  Thanks for any information not for me but others.

I find it really sad that someone who is/was a member of the WDA was threatened by the "head" of the WDA.  I take "the head" to mean the President of the WDA.  That is unacceptable and should not be tolerated by anyone!  No member of any organization should be threatened by the head of the organization.  This isn't a street gang, it's a dog club.   A social club where people get together, train, trial and show their dogs.  Geez, stop trying to destroy people and just go out and have fun with your dogs!          As for the Worlds 2013, that is a GSDCA event, not a WDA event.  The GSDCA is the host club for the Worlds.   The WDA has agreed to "help".
