I cannot send money at this time, but I send my prayers & hugs to Denise. It's just awful to see your friend in such a situation. And sympathy also for the loss of Kobe. I'm sending all the positive energy I can muster to Jovi to pull through...! If things improve after I've been back to work & have a paycheck I'd like to contribute....keep that link open! God bless....jackie harris

I contributed what I could and I hope others do the same. The Schutzhund and GSD community should stick together, this sort of thing could happen to any of us and does. I hope Jovi lives and thrives but even if she doesn't the vet bills will still exist. Donating even $20 will help - please consider doing so if you can. bumping -

It is wonderful seeing the GSD community coming together to help Denise and Jovi..... Jovi has such heart, prayers for her survival and comfort for Denise. Sent what I could and hope others can, too. Hopefully they will be able to determine what has caused this saddness!!!

is this mystical "friend" a loved member of the Schutzhund family? I think it is far simpler than that, and for most of us I don't think it matters who she is. A terrible tragedy has befallen her and her dogs and she is in a desperate situation, so we try and help if we can. There but for the grace of God go any of us. RIP Kobe, and I pray that they manage to save Jovi. Do we know how she is doing?

I checked this morning (MAY 2) and only 27 donations for a total of 1820 have been donated....... |

Does that include donations through Paypal? I did mine by Paypal, and got a little thank you email back. Any news on Jovi?

Just an update on Jovi. The donations are totallying on the page slowly, so we actually have $2100 worth of donations in just two days which is pretty amazing, not including what people have sent directly to the vet hospital. I talked to the owner Denise this morning and have also updated this on the chip in link (there are photos of Jovi there as well). Thursday Jovi had a blood transfusion in the afternoon and that really seemed to help. She made it a second night which is huge, and this morning was able to walk into a room to see the owner. Going from an 8% chance of living, to walking is a miracle to say the least. She will need to stay through Sunday so please keep the prayers and good thoughts coming for Jovi to make a full recovery! And if you have a minute, click on the "chip in" link and you can see the updated photos of her actually awake and alert from today. Anyways, thank you again to everyone for passing this link around and rallying support for this amazing dog and owner.

leotta, thank you for posting today's picture of Jovi! The difference between the one at the start of this thread and today's is remarkable, and a relief--today we can see fire in her eyes (and probably a bit of annoyance over all the tubes and such she's tolerating, too...who could blame her?)! And then ocdoglady adds that Jovi was actually able to walk into the room to visit with her owner--I think it would be a safe bet to say that there were lots of tears in the room then, but they were joy-generated this time. Personally, these combined updates were worth every penny I was able to send her way. :) Abby Normal wrote, I think it is far simpler than that, and for most of us I don't think it matters who she is. A terrible tragedy has befallen her and her dogs and she is in a desperate situation, so we try and help if we can. There but for the grace of God go any of us. Exactly, Abby. I didn't chip in because Jovi's a SchH 3 champion, I did it because I'm fortunate enough to be able to do so at this time, and a request for help was made by friends of the dog and her owner, who is doing everything possible to save her dog's life. Just as many people here did for the young dog, Kaiser, who needed hip surgery recently--he's not a SchH 3 champion, and his owner isn't a 'name' in this or that dog sport venue...she's just a woman whose pup was dealt a bad hand from the hip genetics deck and who was doing everything she could to give the dog a life of good quality and comfort, and was willing to let people help her give him that. Never met her, either, and don't really expect I ever will, either. So what? If I have both an opportunity and the resources to help prevent someone's heart from breaking, I'm not going to turn my back on that. It's because there are still people who WILL help like this that I don't *completely* despise my own species. leotta and ocdoglady, thanks again for these updates, and keep 'em coming. Jovi needs to continue her recuperation and get back home where she belongs again, so she can help Denise recover from the pain of losing Kobe and coming so close to losing Jovi, too.

How wonderful to see her sitting up and looking alert! Everything crossed that she keeps improving and makes a complete recovery. I can just imagine how Denise must have felt to see her walk into the room. Thanks for the updates, and yes please keep them coming.

Any updates on Jovi's condition?
by leoetta on 04 March 2012 - 16:55 |
Here is an update I just got from the owners friend:
Waiting to hear more, but I got a text around 11 last night that Jovi needed 6 units of albumin and was declining. I guess her levels were low 2 days ago and it dropped to about half of that. Hopefully it will be back on track soon.
So everyone please keep praying for Jovi!! She still needs our prayers and our help. Here is the donation information again, lets keep this going.
Thank you.
