Over two hours of Crufts from More4

It was confirmed by one of the KC speakers at the recent KC Group Judges Conference, that More 4 TV, having originally scheduled two hours for each of the four evenings of Crufts, has now decided to schedule two-and-a-half hours a night – a total of ten hours broadcasting.

This is very much in excess of anything that the BBC ever offered to Crufts. It will hopefully enable the Crufts and KC teams to have plenty of time to counteract any negative publicity that may arise from the forthcoming personal view of Ms J Harrison, which is to be broadcast as a programme by the BBC soon

"HERO DOGS" by JANET MENZIES

A book of canine courage published in association with Hearing Dogs for Deaf People and Cruft's 'Friends for Life'. Amongst the stories are that of Gander, the Newfoundland mascot of the Royal Rifles of Canada who received a posthumous award for saving the lives of Candian infantrymen during the Battle of Lye Mun, Hong Kong in 1941. Echo, the search and rescue dog who has worked in Haiti; and the TEAM dog specially trained to work with congenitally deaf child and her family. This is a tribute to so many of man's best friends - and not only his best friends but his bravest as well.

Crate expectations!

Following an announcement made by the Kennel Club last week after a meeting of the General Committee on 14th February, there is now an immediate requirement for all exhibitors to identify their crates at shows with their bench number.

In an announcement headed ‘important information for all dog show exhibitors” it was confirmed that with immediate effect at all shows exhibitors must display the exhibit/bench number on their crate, cage or container at all times. This is particularly important when cages etc are not on benches, and at unbenched shows.

The announcement goes on to say: ‘Each exhibitor is responsible for providing their own crate or cage identification and should note that the original exhibit/bench number card, as provided by the show society, must not be used for this purpose.’
