I think this is a great topic! I'm glad to see some of the dogs mentioned in TDC are in my dogs pedigree. I've see Yoshi von der Dollenwiese in a couple of dogs pedigree. What made Yoshi so special?

I like to see the following dogs closer up in a Czech working line (the one that I am interested in) pedigree, paired with the appropriate partners: Titus z Pohranicni Straze Grim z Pohranicni Straze Gero z Blatenskeho Zamku Balli Panta Rei Norbo Ben Ju Cordon An-Sat Chuligan z Pohranicni Straze Folks who are familar with these dogs will realize that the above are all hard and supremely intelligent dogs, and bring a lot of virtues to the table.

| As well as bad hips, bad elbows, cryptorchidism, and numerous other issues that a breeder needs to carefully plan around to the best potential. I've bred on a majority of lines listed there, that I would now prefer to avoid altogether. These are some of the most notable near-ancestors I plan to regularly breed upon, primarily through their commonly preferred opspring, and each of those bring different potential offerings. Even selecting among same-parent-siblings, there are going to be very significant reasons on a case by case basis for choosing one dog over another. And, each of those options could better benefit from an enirely different compatible partner than it's full-sibling would in the following generation that will be produced. It only takes one generation to end up going in very different directions, and takes more than one to put it all back together. | I like what I have seen Stormfront's Brawnson produce. It is unfortunate that his hip rating is fair. The two dogs I can think of are nice, that are sons of his. I also know of 2 dogs sired by a Stormfront son that are also nice. Lots of speed, hard biters, and very nice drives. A friend of mine had a litter that I beleive is line bred 2-4 on Stormfront, those pups are about 6 months and showing very nice. I have been able to keep up with 3 of the pups from that recent litter. I am eager to see how they end up. I have also had the pleasure of working a female who has Stormfront B. in the line and she is very nice. I like my other two dogs as well....but that female is pretty awesome and I think that Stormfront Brawnson is worth mentioning based on what I have seen and experienced. |

Fair hips are normal hips. The question should be - how were the hips on his progeny?
by Hedi on 05 February 2012 - 19:30 |
The two Stormfront sons, I am reffering to, are rated "good" with the hips. The two Stormfront grandsons I know both have "good" and "normal" hips. The female I work is also "good." The pups, not sure at this time. Personally, I like ratings above fair. But fair is ok. So I would say not bad track record with the females he has been paired with.

Hedi I used to get hung up on ratings, I don't anymore since I've seen fairs get goods and excellents with different xrays. Sometimes the only difference is the quality of the film. I myself had 2 dogs rejected, mild HD. Both were done again, both got goods. That's a big jump in the ratings.

There is an adult Brawson grandson through Stuka in our club who shows almost no drive; though I imagine he is an outlier.

Who is the dam on that one?

I believe it is Aja Reichtal

I like the German working lines. My dogs all had/have German parents.Parents, grandparents as well as great-grandparents have to be all SchH III. I also want at least one WUSV competitor amongst these 3 generations. I'm not fixed on certain kennel names, but with my current dog I was looking for Maxi von Karthargo, Troll von der Boesen Nachbarschaft, Bernd Lierberg and Alf vom Nordfelsen. I like Alf for passing on lean structure, as I prefer lean dogs.

Interesting question but I think our sources of information mainly comes thru dog sport ie. schutzhund. I wish there was a database of service dogs and performance ie. patrol K9 and apprehensions, tracking/scent K9's and locates / finds. So my picks for studs are dogs that produced service dogs and dogs that competed in other disciplines ie. ring and knpv. Fado vom Karthago - Amigo/Aron Bracheler See 2-3 Fado Troll vom Haus Milinda Orry vom Haus Antverpa Eick von der Berger Hochburg Aly Vordersteinwald ps. It is very interesting what is coming out of kennel du jour "Staatsmacht" Kyle

it would be nice to see why each dog is liked, particularly for us new people, makes it a learning experience to see when a certain dog in a ped is good or bad, depending on what you are looking for.

I think you make a better arguement by saying who do you like to see in a dogs linebreeding. It makes it a tougher argument to attribute one dogs qualities to have only come from a single grand parent for example.

Ah, good point. I'm thinking Stormfront's Brawnson for example could potentially hold promise with one appearance, depending on various conditions, but have a highly probable undesired reverse effect upon linebreeding. Sporting backgrounds will always go with the territory, just the nature of the situation. We can, for example, name and recognize the names of many star athletes, knowing their personal lifestyles even, outside of their professions. But, how many SEAL team members can you name? You're doing good if you even know they had haji's for breakfast! ![]()

I can name a couple but they'd be awfully mad if I posted them here.

Montana puts out a good share of special forces prospects as well. That privacy should be respected, not just for themselves, but also their friends and family. But imagine how many convicted criminals would like to get paybacks on the dog that put them behind bars? Probably a few at least.
