Opinions on Hips Please by Judy P on 28 January 2012 - 02:07 |
![]() Can you guys give me some opinions on these hips please. |
by Jenni78 on 28 January 2012 - 02:10 |
| Well, we can see most of the dog, but not the knees. LOL. Odd for hip xrays. Right side of the screen looks badly subluxated, but it's so small it's hard to say much more. How about posting an xray or blow-up of just the hips/knees that's big enough to really see? |

Judy, Have the x-ray redone.... the knees must show for OFA to grade it. |
by Kalibeck on 28 January 2012 - 02:19 |
| Was this x-ray done to examine hips? Or to diagnose another problem? Just wondering, the positioning is incorrect for a hip evaluation, & the abdomen of this animal is somewhat interesting....is that a hematoma? Just asking.....? jackie harris |

| Look good!. Good luck |
by Jenni78 on 28 January 2012 - 02:39 |
| What? What looks good? I can't see a darn thing and I'm not all that old...what I do see doesn't look that good. |

| From what I can see (contrast is not very good) It looks like the left is good and the right is not. From that photo it looks like the right does not have much of a socket so the ball looks like it's out pretty far. Yes, do get another one with the knees or OFA will send it back. Debby |

I don't think another xray is going to make any difference, but it may be worth a try. As everyone else has said, the knees must be on the xray and the contrast needs to be better. Best guess moderate HD, right side. |

| Yes,the X-rays are not good for certifying the hips, but heads ar rounded and tight for what I can see,it's not totally clear, but I like to see the glass half full, than half empty :-) |

| Here, I tried to zoom it in and change the photo to a negative so the solid bone stands out.... they look positioned right even though the knees aren't showing, looks to me like the left hip is a bit out of the socket... ![]() |

The rght hip is more than a bit out of the socket; now it looks like severe HD. |
by mirasmom on 28 January 2012 - 13:31 |
| Like jdiaz1791, I also like the glass to be half full, than half empty.... |

| Yeah, pretty much the same thing I saw when I was tilting my laptop and squinting to see the last one. I went so far as to get my son'g magnifying glass, lol. Right side of screen is not going to pass. |
by Blitzen on 28 January 2012 - 14:14 |
This might be one of those cases where the dog suffered an injury. A better xray may confirm that. |
by SitasMom on 28 January 2012 - 14:23 |
does the muscle on the left leg look smaller then the right, or is it just the positioning? |
by Nans gsd on 28 January 2012 - 16:09 |
| Right side of our screen, probably left hip there is NO socket; right side our left side of the screen maybe fair. I don't think either will pass, but good luck. Nan |

| I'd say this dog has a big problem! BLACK IS AIR.. .and he has a HUGE amount of AIR inside the Body wall on the LEFT side of the photo... Not to mention... did anyone else notice the HUGE size of the Colon and the stool in it???? Oh my goodness!!! That is NOT normal!!! JudyP... what were these xrays for??? Please do tell!! |
by Jenni78 on 28 January 2012 - 21:04 |
| Yes, I did. I was assuming she had them taken for a diagnosis and just happen to decide to ask us about the hips. Poor pup cannot be feeling well. |
by Kalibeck on 28 January 2012 - 21:38 |
| I'm glad someone else noticed that as well, black can mean fluid accumulation as well. This animal is very ill, hip status is probably an after thought. Could the OP fill us in? I've been worried since my first post.....thanks. jackie harris |
