| Sheep/mutton in the UK is a more mature animal so the muscle meat is denser but more flavour so I've heard. I'm veggie so don't eat meat but my dogs do. Hope it's been good news for Prince with the Holistic vet. |

| I received very good news from our visit with the holistic veterinarian this evening. He definitely had a broader scope of knowledge compared to our neighborhood veterinarian that examined and diagnoses Prince with AF (anal fistulas) last month. It was his opinion that Princes fistulas were not consistent with the classic form of hereditary AF. He said that the small openings that he would not even consider a "true AF fistula" were laying along the anal gland tract/duct. Most likely it was related to an anal gland issue. It was his opinion based on Princes presenting symptoms and history that most likely he has an issue related to his diet which is causing the dirty bottom. Which in turn could have led to the anal issue. He spoke with me a lot about diets and different foods and I found him very knowledgeable and supportive regarding a raw diet. He encouraged me to change Princes diet to Acana Wild Prairie. He said that Orjen is an excellent diet, but too rich for some dogs. He said that based on Prince's history if the diet change does not clear up the dirty bottom, then we will do blood work to test for PI Pancreatic Insufficiency. Which he said was much more likely based on Prince's history and symptoms.. Thanks for the support ....:) |

| Ruger, I know you've talked a lot about Prince's diet. I just wanted to say that I switched from Orijen which is considered the top, top kibble, to Acana, which is same maker just a 60/40 instead of 80/20. I worried a little bit about the 'step down' but honestly my GSDs have done better on Acana than Orijen. I feed the Grasslands and have been perfectly happy with it in terms of coat, energy and stool consistency. |

| I have fed a variety of grain free and my girl is doing fantastic on Acana Pacifica. I second the vote for giving Acana a shot ! Good luck :) |

| I have recommended Acana to a couple of people who wanted specific dietary advice, IMO it is a top quality holistic food. I have a friend who has an AF dog on a Salmon and Potato diet who is doing well with the AF on it. |
