Based on purchasing a puppy (not bred by you) - do you always go to the same Breeder, or different Breeders, but from a preferred line of breeding, or start completely afresh in your search and choice?

I don't breed and have all sorts of bloodlines that I like to work with.  There are a few that I totally avoid though.  I absolutely do not tolerate lines that produce handler aggressive dogs.  A working dog is supposed to WILLINGLY work with you.  I don't mind dogs that try there stuff on you at 18 months old but a seasoned dog that STILL feels the need to dominate his handler needs lead therapy.

Maybe the handler needs lead therapy. Just a thought.

Definately a possibility.   Chaz you are more than welcome to train all the handler aggressive dogs you would like :) Some people love being bitten and challenged continually by their own dogs.  I'm just not one of them.  I prefer a dog that happily works and does his job without all the messing about. Alot of people forget the one word " Amiable" Kind of an important one.

Taken from the breed standard:
The German Shepherd Dog must be, in its essential image, well-balanced, firm in nerves, self-confident, absolutely calm and impartial, and (except in tempting situations) amiable. He must possess courage, willingness to fight, and hardness, in order to be suitable as companion, watchdog, protector, service dog, and guardian.
