I work at two vets (but we are on east coast)... one does Digital and they are $240 (which includes sedation) and immediate email submission. The other does the old fashion radiographs and charges $210 (includes sedation). Wow.. glad I don't live in California!!!

Was quoted $375 for Hips and elbows with sedation, going in to do them on the 6th... *sigh* keepin' toes an fingerz crossed, though he's not going anywhere no matter what the result. I've waited many many years for a dog with the combination of strong bold temperament and clear head under pressure. Whatever the resultss he's mine!! (Though someone noticed that it appears more that I'm his)

I used to pay roughly $500 here in Massachusetts for hips & elbows, and they knocked the dogs out, the dog would stay at the vets all day. Now I pay $225, in Rhode Island, hips & elbows and the dogs are awake and come home with me right after! So far with the new vet I have gotten, an excellent, 2 goods and a fair.

Shop around like for anything. Talk to breeders. Vote with your dollar for quality and good price. I would say the x ray itself should not cost much more then $150- $200. Another thing is. Most vets insist on anesthesia . That will cast you too. Well I insist on not doing anesthesia for many reasons. My vet just rolls eyes and does what I want. OFA does not need to have dogs under anesthesia even so some vets say so! Remember YOU are the boss and it is you dollar. Educate yourself on positioning of hips and do not pay for x ray unless they are done properly. http://www.alpinek9.com/Hips.html Prager Hans

In southern california I get my dogs Hips/Elbows both for $170

Here in West Michigan I pay less than 200 for digital including submitting them to OFA.

I was quoted $250 hips/elbows (without the fees for OFA) at a place near here, in Franklin, TN. I'm going to call the school of UT in Knoxville (my guess is that it will be higher) and see what they estimate it for. I don't trust any of the locals here in my county to do anything right, so finding it at a reasonable price may be slightly harder.

I called 3 different vets in my area of California ( S.F. Bay) They were all very close in total price. Two out of the three recommend sedation. OFA $170.00 for hips $170.00 for elbows $150.00 sedation $100.00 to file with OFA $55.00 Blood work $35.00 12 hour in office care

I paid $300 for hips, sedation and submittal. I am by Chicago. If anyone knows someone cheaper in my area that wold be great because I am going to need more in the future!

I live near Chicago, I expect to pay around $300 for x-rays with sedation no matter which clinic I choose. The fee to file with OFA is only $40, so being quoted $100 to send into OFA is just price gouging!! The hip x-ray is usually 1 large film, the elbows are usually 2 small films (or digital, but for these purposes I'll just call them films!). I work at a vet office that has a bad repuatation for being horribly overpriced, and $170 for hips and $170 for elbows is crazy. Usually offices charge a higher price for the first film and then a lower price for each additional film. I know we have a bundle price for OFA hips/elbows, it's in the $200 range, plus or minus sedation.

OP, if you insist on no sedation, you can cut out the cost for sedation, blood work and office care. Filing the radiographs yourself with OFA will also cut down costs. But that will still leave it costing $380+, yikes! I paid something like $350 with sedation in southern Alabama. Images turned out horrible. I had them retaken with a vet who didn't require sedation, and it cost $150.
