SCAM - Beware puppies possted on Craigslist in Texas by HighlanderShepherds on 30 October 2011 - 01:33 |
| Please be advised that there is a scam posted on Craigslist in Texas ---- the scammer posted GSD puppies that are available and had a photo of our dog as their mother!!!!! We are located in NY --- I have no idea who is behind the scam --- I just want to let people know that this is a scam and our dog is not the mother of those puppies. http://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/pet/2666582397.html Here is her photobucket page with the photos: http://s1097.photobucket.com/albums/g348/chloegallo/ I was made aware of this scam and the above info via telephone from a breeder in Texas and PDB member. Thank you "Sunshine" for taking the time to call me and tell me. Please spread the word that this post on Craigslist is a SCAM ...... terrible, just terrible. I don't know how or why some people do the things that they do! I am going to have to watermark all of the photos on our web site which means I have to remove all of them and replace them as soon as I put the watermark on the photos. The only way that the person could have obt'd Tisha's photo is either from our web site or here on the German Shepherd Pedigree Database. Thanks Alisia |

| I emailed them hoping to help. Poor puppies. |

| I'm not sure exactly what the scam is? I don't see them asking for money or trying to sell the pups, I see them asking for help. As for the photos they used, my guess is they used random photos they found online to make a point in their request for help. Also, ads with photos are much more likely to be clicked on and looked at. So they could have been using pics just to get more people to click on their ad and help them. |

| Perhaps they just posted pics of what the parents "resemble"...ie...black & red, sable...etc..??? Honestly...does it really matter "which dogs" pictures are being posted if they are specifically stating that "these two dogs are the parents"...and the puppies pedigree is as follows........ Random pics are just that...random pics. And before anyone asks......NO...I would really not care if they used pics of my own dogs...as long as they were not specifically stating that my dogs were the parents of the litter (name & pedigree). I really hope the litter and all the other dogs are found secure, loving homes quickly. |

| I too don’t understand what the scam is about, nor do I see any of your pics in the craigslist ad. Unless, you took them down. They are not asking for money. Sorry but I just don’t get it either. Photo bucket is free, so if your pics. Where there, then the question is how they end in the bucket website. The only way to avoid photos from being copied is to secure the entire webpage as a watermark can be erased; you may want to try a copyright instead. But I don’t understand your claim. Sorry! |

| Yes, they did want money. I asked to adopt one of the puppies and was told they would be $ 250. Then found out it was a scam. So I know I was asked for money, don't know about anyone else. |

| This is so confusing. Long time breeder??? Who was this breeder? If I was left with babies thrown away I would want that breeder known! As for pups, I would not be trying to sell them,I would be trying to find them good homes. This whole thing doesnt add up. |
by sunshine on 30 October 2011 - 14:37 |
| No, I don't think this is a scam. What threw confusion into the whole matter were pictures of the parent dogs which were not the parent dogs of the litter. But the rescuer was receiving this info from the neighbor. So, the question was does the rescuer have an owner surrender to enable a legal adoption process? And this is not clear. Because of the secrecy involved to most likely not reveal who the neighbor/breeder is, physical location is not clear. So, it is not possible to help regardless in what form that help is, if the physical location is unknown. So, this situation is not verifiable. Help was offered. An orderly adoption process was offered. The help was not accepted. |

| NO NO NO NOT A SCAM!!!!! I don't know where the photos came from of adults but this lady WOULD NOT TAKE A DIME from me. Also Von Degenhard German Shepherds is helping this KIND lady rescuer with the dogs (AND AGAIN WOULD NOT TAKE MONEY I offered several times). This is the email I got from von Degenhard about the rescuer: The rescuer is the most wonderful person Indira. She is deaf and doing a wonderful job on her own.
NOTE NO ACCEPTANCE of my offer of money. They are kind and good angels and perhaps the dumpers of these pups used another person's dog's photo and that is where the confusion comes in, but it iS NOT a scam. | ||||

| Tex Peg, I am Maren. And we have been in communication via my email account. Could you please take of my private email from this thread. |

| I am sad that there have been so many bad people and dishonest people that this poor deaf lady who won't take a penny and Maren from von Degenhard are not seen as the kind honest people they are spending their own time and money and accepting nothing from anyone. They are busy feeding newborn puppies 24/7 and taking pups to the vet etc. etc. Please, however the confusion arose (remember the dumpers of the puppies left with the adult dogs) in getting photos of adults (probably off the dumpers website) the angels that are helping save these dogs are innocent. There is no problem regarding adoptions. As with any abandoned dogs that are rescued, those that abandon animals have no rights. As with all rescues, they should be charging a nominal fee to offset spay/neuter and shots and weed out those who can't bother taking proper care and just want a free dog. I wish I could force this angel to take the money I offered. |
by hunger4justice on 30 October 2011 - 15:07 |
| They only are taking money for adoption fees, not from anyone else...nothing wrong with that. If you are not getting anything from them they were NOT taking money. All rescue places charge a fee...for one thing easy to weed out those that don't even want to be bothered paying 250 to compensate for vet and spaying for a 1200 dog. I did rescue for years and we always charged some fee. |
by GSDloyalty on 30 October 2011 - 15:18 |
| adoption fee is reasonable. That is acceptable but this breeder who threw them out is not. They should be held accountable. |

| I want to make something clear. I wrote yesterday about getting a letter to adopt one of these puppies for $ 250. I was unclear about who this was from as I didn't yet know the questions that were mounting about this situation. The letter I received was from someone who was only trying to help this lady who was supposedly left with all these babies. This lady to my knowledge was in no way involved in a scam , if there is one. Maren was only trying to help. I want everyone to knnow when all this happened, it was still new and unknown what was going on. The $ 250 was trying to have some kind of control who got the puppies, understanding that if you paid $ 250 , you would likely give it a good home. I hope I've made this clear as to how I understand it. Maren was thinking of all these babies and finding them loving homes. She stepped into a mess. Thank you Maren. |

| Apparently some people are confused so for the record let me clarify for you: YES THIS IS A SCAM #1 My website is in fact copyright protected and has been since 2004 MY photos are NOT on photobucket ----- other then the one this person stole! The only way this person obt'd the photo of my female is either from my web site or from this database! YES THEY DID ASK FOR MONEY AS I HAD A FRIEND REPLY TO THE AD ON CRAIGSLIST and he was told they cost $500!!!!!! No mention of adoption fee for rescued puppies! Also ... the person said yes the parents of the puppies are shown -------- WHAT ELSE WOULD YOU CALL THIS other then a scam! As far as trying to hide their breeding --- misrepresenting the parents of the litter ---- that is a scam! If they simply posted that they rescued puppies and were trying to find homes for them then I would not object! I am very active in GSD Rescue! BUT....by posting my dog with "Mother" above the photos of the puppies is dead wrong .... ALSO saying that the owner of the MOTHER and Father used to be good breeders but abandoned their puppies and the parents ........................ again with the photo of my bitch as the MOTHER implies that me as her owner abandoned my dogs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ANYONE WHO SAYS THEY WOULD NOT BE DISTURBED BY THIS IF IT HAPPENED TO THEM IS NOT TELLING THE TRUTH OR IS AN IDIOT!!!! OF COURSE I AM MAD ---- like I said .... if the ad simply stated that these puppies needed to be rescued, I would have no problem with that ............ but by using a photo of my female and identifying her as the MOTHER is wrong and saying the breeder abandoned them (obviously the owner of the mother as this would indicate) IS WRONG! Believe me I know that MAREN was only trying to help, she did nothing wrong and I am very thankful to her for contacting me. Maren like all of us loves GSD's and wants the best for them. Again, Thank you Maren. ALL THEY HAD TO DO IS SIMPLE ................BE HONEST! I am allowed to have my opinion...if you disagree, you are entitled to, it's a free country but don't condem me --for what I feel! Alisia |

| PLEASE NOTE: MY ISSUE IS NOT WITH THE RESCUE LADY OR MAREN!!!! I AM THANKFUL THAT THEIR ARE PEOPLE LIKE THEM IN THE WORLD. MY ISSUE IS WITH THE PERSON WHO BROUGHT THESE PUPPIES INTO THE WORLD AND ABANDONED THEM!!!! THEN, IN ATTEMPT TO "HIDE THEIR BREEDING" USED MY FEMALE AND IDENTIFIED HER AS THE MOTHER" PLEASE SEE MY POST ABOVE. IF THE "BREEDER" HAD TO HIDE THEIR BREEDING --- THERE IS A REASON WHY! PEOPLE LIKE THAT MAKE ME SOOO SICK AND I IN NO WAY WANT MYSELF OR MY DOGS ASSOCIATED WITH THAT KIND OF PERSON OR PEOPLE! AS FAR AS THE PUPPIES............. I WOULD DO ANYTHING TO TRY AND FIND THEM FOREVER LOVING HOMES! AS STATED I AM VERY ACTIVE IN GSD RESCUE. ALSO RESCUE IN GENERAL. I LOVE ALL DOGS AND HAVE MY ENTIRE LIFE. Alisia |

| @gsdloyalty --- you totally seem to understand my point. Thank you!!!!!!! Alisia |

| @ hunger4justice Your comment: "Please, however the confusion arose (remember the dumpers of the puppies left with the adult dogs) in getting photos of adults (probably off the dumpers website) the angels that are helping save these dogs are innocent. " Yes, the "angels that are helping to save these dogs are inncocent" as am I. My point exactly .... you assumed that the people got the photos from the "dumpers" web site..............see that is what I mean!!!! Of course people would think that!!!! That is what upsets me!!! I am in NY, not Texas and would give my life to save any of my dogs, I love them more then anything! I am not involved at all other then having my photo stolen and utilized as the "Mother" of the puppies. I pray these puppies find loving homes, they didn't deserve to start their life this way. | Who is this long time breeder that left a box of babies to die and other little ones to do the same. This breeder needs to be known. There is no excuse. |
