I´d prefer an older one, as one can judge more about the health of the stud himself and about the quality of his offspring.

If everyone waited for an older, established stud, then we wouldn't have any puppies.
It really all depends and it is difficult to answer a question that lack detail.
But, my suggestion is: find a male that suites the female and has qualities you like.
