Anyone delt with this guy??? by fullforce on 18 October 2011 - 12:50 |
http://grandhaven.wzzm13.com/news/news/training-canine-crimefighters/59461 I seen some of his dogs a few weeks ago as I am researching trainers to send my dog for training.. He has a great client base and some VERY nice dogs.. Just wondering if anyone here has delt with him.. All his dogs are titled and trained by him. He is president and training director of an SDA club in West Michigan..

Kevin Kinker is also a member of our database here and use to post quite often when he got his first Tiekerhook gsd. I personally have talked with Kevin and know him to be reputable , by his other affliations thru police K9 training. I would say he can be trusted and would do what is correct or find the person to help if needed He has grown in the job well done and I am proud to say I recommend him. I am sure he can give you his background training as it did come from excellent sources. YR Congratulations MR KK....number 32????????? I use to call him by his number not his name. Inside joke. |

I have never met Kevin but have communicated with him on line. He seems to be knowlegable in training dogs. I have considered joining his group but it is a bit pricey by the time you add all of the charges, I have no problem paying annual dues but by adding equipment costs and monthly charges on top of the dues which if I remember right were over $300 it gets expensive, i think I figured around $1,000 a year. I currently train with a person in Grand Rapids and the cost is no different and it is more one on one.

Fullforce you obviously know Kevin, so why the subterfuge? Unless you are Kevin, or maybe his mother. I'd do that (advertise) for my son.

I am relatively positive Kevin is Fullforce

I'd say that's a fair guess. Seems he's come a long way in just a few years. Good for him. I almost sold him a dog several years ago, but decided not to.

I often train with Kevin once a week, in fact I think I'm Vice President of the club, lol. I train somewhere else on weekends but I train w/ Kevin's group on Thursdays, nice location, they've got some equipment I don't have, work my dogs with a suit. I can't really speak to the quality of his particular dogs but he doesn't have an ego, at least not with me. He does what I ask when I'm working my dogs. Haven't been out in a few weeks b/c of weather and busy preparing a dog for a Schutzhund trial. I paid $135, no other fees on top of that, and we used club money to register the younger dogs with SDA. I don't really need help with my training but I felt it was worth $135 to have two guys do some decoy work for me and have a nice alternative location to work obedience and track. Judy P do I know you? I've lived in Grand Rapids for 27 years. Who do you train with? Nino?

Having someone do as you ask when working your dogs is almost priceless.

I wouldn't say Kevin is the most experienced guy out there but I feel I could do a lot worse and yes, having some decoys that do what I ask, how I ask it and aren't out there trying to run my dogs down or prove this or that is worth the $135 to me. I've finally got to the point where I'm comfortable being in charge of my own programs with my dogs and that includes their protection work. For example right now I'm preparing for a Schutzhund trial so no one is working my dog but my Schutzhund helper. I haven't been out to SDA in a few weeks but I know if I did Kevin wouldn't be pressuring me to work my dog on the suit if I didn't want to. He has a lot of patience working with dogs (and handlers, maybe even moreso the handlers) that are not easy to train b/c of any combo of genetics, breed, handler inexperience. I'm not trying to advertise, I don't train at his other facility or have one of his dogs, I'm just part of the SDA club. His breeding program and training business I can't comment on, other than I've seen the puppy he held back a few times and it's a really nice puppy (IMO).
