Scammers are everywhere.
by Lazy Senior on 18 October 2011 - 02:36
Yes Scammers ARE everywhere. I answered a classified ad on this site for GSD puppies in MO. This breeder is a prolific classfiied advertiser right here on this site. She had 8 - 3 month old pupppies for sale. She is desperate to sell them and has cut the price many times. Since she is only 3 hours from me, I emailed her last week for particulars. Here is what I found out:
She also advertises her male dog as a Stud on this site. I asked her about OFA papers for the male. She said he had pre-lims but she couldn't find them. The male dog I believe is 3 yrs old.
I then asked about OFA papers for the female. She fowarded a email copy of the OFA papers from another person. This other person still owns the female mother which is 2 years old I believe. In this forwarded mesage the other person says that the breeder of the puppies is NOT going to get the original OFA papers until she pays for the female. Also this female is For Sale, right here on this site, even tho the breeder has not paid for the dog. The Breeder does have possession of both parents.
So I ask about AKC puppy papers, I been down this road before. I had to ask 3 times. NO AKC puppie papers, the litter has not been registered yet but the breeder guarantees I will get AKC puppy papers. Yeah right. I believe the owner of the female is withholding the AKC papers of the mother from the breeder until she gets her money for the mother.
NO Vet check either, the breeder tells me she needs to sell dogs NOW. Too many RED FLAGS for me. I tell her bye bye and she emails back I am weird....
I have had better luck and seen more honesty with BYB.. I hope this experience is not representive of most ads here. This breeder seemed to me to be a wantabee breeder even tho she told me she has been doing it for 20 years.
Be Careful, ask questions, and ask for proof, and be weird if you have to.

Sorry, but there are no red flags here ! Yes I advertise my dogs. Yes I am paying on
this particular female. Yes everyone will get there AKC papers, on these awesome pups
If you want to wait when I have papers in hand, and then contact me again to see if any
pups are still available that's great. But dont bash people cause it was a long wait to
get copies of females hips, cause they were sent to Germany.
I have had GSD since 1989 I broke my leg this summer, really bad. Anyone that's been
in GSD for a long time knows it's hard to quit. I love this breed with all my heart. The
economy is bad and dogs just aren't selling. I have been back and forth debating to stop
breeding and training. I can't run like I use to and it's killing me cause I had to stop
training for quite awhile. I do have the dam up for sale, she is the best brood bitch, easy
whelper and great mom, I have ever had. She will only be sold to good home for the
right price or she will stay here with us. I was going to use the sale money to pay her
off. You should have come here and viewed the dogs before trying to say things like
"red flag etc "
by Tihannah on 14 November 2011 - 20:12
Wow. That was one of the worst rebuttals I've ever read. Red flag indeed! You're selling the puppies for which you can't get papers to because you've never paid for the dam. YET, you're going to sell the dam you don't outright own so you can use the money to pay what you owe on her? And the person that buys her is going to have to trust you pay off the original transaction with their money so that they can eventually get their papers?? REALLY?? Sign me up! I'm in! Lol...
by LOVE THY SHEPHERD on 14 November 2011 - 20:42
What part of I am paying off the female, doesn't anyone understand. Not haven't paid
her off or refuses to pay her off. You are so quick to judge, both me and the person
I got her from are honest. She knows she is for sale, I told the truth and there's nothing
wrong with it. Why is everyone so quick to bash people. Get a life ! I was lucky to find
a person that took payments.

Several are quick to bash because they have good reason. There has been a BIG scam going on and a lot of them are aware of it. Several scams actually... WE have to be on our toes. The bad part is the scammer has told people the very same thing you are telling people. guaranteeing papers and puppies and don't own them, didn't own them, taking money and then screwing those people they sold pups/dogs to. So, yes, when something like this is put on the board, We are concerned...Very concerned!
I sincerely hope you arn't one of those scammers, but you need to get the horse in front of the wagon and get things done in order before you promise things to potential buyers. The best of luck to you in getting all things done and then getting your pups sold. It is a very depressed Market for sure so every thing done right goes a long way in getting sales.
At this point if you really need to get the pups sold, trying just selling them with NO papers as pet only, NO Promises, that might help.
by LOVE THY SHEPHERD on 15 November 2011 - 03:02
Weezy http://www.germanlinedogs.webs.com I agree with some of your remarks. I am NOT a scammer. Just have 7 pups that are 3 1/2 months old now, eating me out of house and home. I've never had pups at this age before. The pedigree is awesome so I can't sell them without papers.
There is not going to be a problem with the papers. And I wouldn't expect the
original owner (dam) to give me her papers till she's paid off. I already drastically
reduced the price and hate to sell them any cheaper. Cause if I was looking for a
nice puppy I wouldn't be able to find one, for the price I must sell these girls for.

Why would you breed a bitch you didn't own on paper yet?
At the very least, a written lease agreement should have been drawn up between you and the actual owner of the bitch (owner is he/she who has the papers in their name in the eyes of AKC) so the puppies from this ill planned breeding could be registered.
Why would you breed dogs you had no proof of hip/elbow clearances?
Especially since the male is at least of OFA age?
If you didn't have the funds to OFA the male, you should not have bred him, period.
This is a working breed, (or supposed to be), that is riddled with health and nerve issues as it is, a breeder at the VERY least IMO should OFA/A Stamp their dogs.
Thats the VERY least one can do, so no excuses, it should be done.
This is not your first round with breeding dogs "Dachhaus/LOVETHYSHEPHERD", you have been on the board years back with showlines and were involved in some drama over the sale of a male to someone on the west coast that was also a "byb" type person...
Now you are stuck with a bunch of older puppies that don't have papers, (and yes, they should be AKC individually registered by now).
Yes, I imagine they are eating you out of house and home. They need socializing, crate training, one on one etc..I hope for their sake they are getting it.
Price your puppies at $250.00 now, with papers **possibily** being available for $XXX.XX amount later, you know, once you have paid off the mother
And you are guaranteeing the pups? how? with what? you are "getting out of breeding", so won't have a future litter to replace should there be a problem...
you obviously don't have the funds to pay for the mother to the litter, so how would you refund anyone should a problem arise?
Do tell...when you found suckers to buy the first 4 of this litter, (12 right? down to 8 now?) did you lay it all out on the line with them as to the actual state of AKC registration etc? Or did you baffle them with b*llsh&T?
The only way this could get any better is if you sold the puppies on limited registration and would lift when THOSE pups were OFA'd and titled...lol
Thats usually the way these type work. THEY will breed untitled/no health clearance dogs, but my my..you certainly won't..not with "their lines"...lol
If it weren't so sad, it would be funny. 12 puppies...why do these kind of people always have 12 puppies?
Caring ethical breeders that do it ALL right end up with 2 or 3 in a litter..and usually shipped the bitch or semen etc at great expense..
For the record, titles don't mean it all to me, but they are a damn good place to start for a consumer!
Everyone has the "best dogs", but those dogs never seem to leave the owners own yard...
Good luck peddling those poor pups...advertise them in your local "Pennysaver" as pets, price them realistically for what they are..unregistered GSD pups from parents with no minimal health clearances, and stop breeding like this please. It's hard enough to find a GOOD GSD these days..they are out there, but not so easy to find.
You claim papers are guaranteed and want people to trust you..then ship/give them the pup and invoice them once you have AKC papers in hand..you know..show the same trust you want your consumers to show you...lol
Props to the "Lazy Senior" for casting the spotlight out..

I am really tired of the drama. This is the final time I will speak on this matter. You
workingdogz are pathetic. Who are you to tell people what to do ?? It's none of your
business how much I sell my dogs for. Last time I checked there are 2 sides to a
conversation. I do have a contract on the dam, I do have proof of her hip rating !
Get a life. The person that started the conversation, was a gal that simply didn't want
to drive the 3 hours to look at the pups. You can't bash someone that you don't know
or at least have seen their dogs. I am sorry there are supposedly alot of scams on
here, as people have said. I am not one of them. I know my dogs lines and am
confident they have good hips, if not will replace them. Your opinion has been listed
on here. Bye

If people are going to breed and not expect to sit on the pups for a period of time then don't breed in the first place.. I had a litter in July and still have pups left, and yes eating me out of house and home but that was a choice I made. I am not going to lower prices just to move them. Once prices get low enough everyone will buy one only for it to end up in the shelter, cause they bought on impulse and price.. If people are breeding be responsible and place the dogs correctly...If you can noit afford food and care for them maybe you should have never breed in the first place.. I could easily lower my prices but not going to.. I will but the time into training them and make the prices rise instead of bitching they are eating into my wallet..
One other breeding bitch is how people are so worried about titles. I choose a stud that works like a mule but not titled cause owner hates the BS that is out there.. Alot of our titled dogs got a mid-night trial title.. I have seen many dogs titled only to ask ' how the hell".. but they are breeding the crap out of them.. People if you are chasing letters then you are not paying attention to the dogs real makeup.. I could have choose a titled dog but the one I choose to use was a better match for my female....I also don't start a breeding off by trying to fix something that the male/female doesn't have... If a program is started to fix a fault in a dog then the breeding should not take place and this happens all to often.. JMO!!!

Hmmm...well other than the fact that the sire and dam don't have their hips rated and are not titled the bloodlines for these puppies is actually very nice with dogs like Zidane and Tom Vant Leefdaalhof. Depending on how much she wants and if you can accept you might not get papers the dogs themselves are actually quite nice. Depending on what she is asking, it might be a great bargain. Not condoning what is being done or how, but the lines of both sire and dam are really not bad at all.
