These people in the article say they have been breeding GSD's for 40 years. The article says about 300 dogs were rescued. These are the kind of breeders anyone can run into if not doing research.

I just google the lady's name and her website is a site I have visited several times. She speaks about the seizure on the site. These are aligations not yet proved but 300 dogs is more than operation outgrowing responsible breeders. http://alphatexkennels.com/

Well.... there are flies, dirty water, and feces in my kennel within two hours of cleaning it, so not saying those are good reasons to remove someone's dogs. However, I only have five dogs. If I had 300, I'd NEVER get all the feces out of there. There are only so many hours in the day. The woman did admit that the population kind of got away from them...as if by accident.

They have had SEVENTEEN litters of GSD puppies so far this year!

And that's JUST GSDs and does not include the other breeds they advertise (collies and golden retrievers)!

As far as I can tell, the parents are untitled, and they are selling puppies for an average of $1,250 to $1,500. Older pups that have not sold go as low as $450.

They advertise these dogs as being 'beautiful pets', and make no effort to attract buyers that may want to show or compete in dog sports.

Come on, if that's not a puppy mill, I don't know how else to describe it!

They can help with the unemployment rate if they hire people to clean up after the dogs. I can only imagine how big of a job that has to be. But they new how many dogs they were on track to have. The are breeding so they are aware they are going to have pups. Sure they are not bad people but doesnt sound they were doing right by the dogs. They are going to have an uphill legal battle. They are asking for help on website for lawyers. lol

There are some photos circulating in the rescue community that haven't made it to the news.  I saw at least one dog lying in a kennel that had been dead for a good long while.  There were dogs ankle-deep in their own crap.  If there's any justice they won't get those dogs back.

This is horrible. I checked out the website and defintely seems to be a puppy mill. I can see why an unknowledgable person could be taken in though.

They should be forced to pay for their former animals' care and placement (or work it off with hard labor) and never be allowed to own an animal again.
