if someone was wanting to buy an older puppy, why not wait the pup's 6 month and after hips and elbow were prelimed? |

| Ok gouda as you wish, it is only human to wish to know, you roused my curiosity. Ibrahim |

| How in the world can you put this cat back into the bag, Gouda? Too late, I should think. You should initiate some serious damage control, right about....now! You should have supported the friend/club member into coming forth with HIS story about HIS dog, if what you are claiming is the truth. Now it is just rumor and speculation and you started it all for spurious reasons. |

| Someone wanted attention, and now he's getting it. DFTT. |
by Stumpywop on 26 September 2011 - 22:34 |
| @DonaldDeluxe - what is DFTT please? Maybe the pups came from Schtal's GSD. After all, have you seen the state of his rear end in the pictures? |

| There is always a chance to come up with displaysia in any breeding. Even that of 2 "excellent" rated dogs. Sometimes it's just that particular paring of the bloodlines that turns out bad. It's no reason to throw away a stud dog, unless he is throwing bad hips with everyone he's bred to. In breeding we try to stack the deck towards good health and hips, but it does not always turn out well. If it were that simple, breeding only OFA Excellent rated dogs would eliminate displaysia. Although let me say this, I have seen/heard of both wl and sl breeders disreguarding hips because of what they think the breeding will produce. Case in point: a wl breeder (no offence to wl as it could have been a sl breeder for different reasons) choose to breed 2 displaystic dogs because of what they saw in the pedigrees that would hypotheticly produce a SUPER gripping working dog. He kept the litter until they were 6 months old and screened them for Displaysia. He put down all the ones that showed signs and kept the ones who's hips looked good. My thoughts ... how terribley cruel!!! Innocent puppies must die because of someone's hyped up ideas for a super working dog! Turns my stomach!! Not only that but, even if those puppies that did not show signs and may even pass hip evaluations, get bred..... what do you think they are going to produce?????!!!!!! This could have just as easliy been a sl breeder breeding for show charateristics.... but the point is.... there ARE poor breeders out there that are only single minded and do not take all aspects of both pedigrees and what is being produced by both, into account. Lesson: Research! With all your heart and make sure the odds are in your favor. That's about all you can do. Debby |

| Gouda, Honestly I do not know what you are talking about. I post when I feel I have something to contribute or if I have a question. I posted on this thread because I wanted to know the reason for your posts. I do not know what posting this thread has to do with coming to Shtals defense. I am not interested in gaining points with anyone, but I do like friends..lol. Also, I do try to avoid trouble when I can, but I am not afraid to speak my mind if I need to.... To be honest I have not done much reading on the religious posts lately. I am sorry you got hammered, but posting religious stuff on an internet dog forum is risky business. If you search in my name Ruger1 you will find many times that I have spoke of my faith and beliefs. Yes, I do believe these people need saved, but me cramming Bible verses down there throats is not going to accomplish the task. I respect you and Shtal, but I do not agree with your theology and I have stated that before. I think the best example of what I believe is how I live, speak and love other people. I am not sure what your purpose was to call me out on this thread, but I hope I have answered your questions. Lets take the rest to PM's... Deanna...: ) |

| Gouda, I did not want to derail the thread in case you had more to say. If you do have more to say, I felt it would be better said in a PM. That's all...: ) Do what you are comfortable with. |

| Gouda, I do appriciate for stepping in and being a true friend, it wasn't necessary what you did, I'm fine, but still thank you. Ruger1, I also apprciated that you cared for me and post it in my defends, after even Jenni changed your mind about me but it's okay! YR, I know you are a good person, thank you for showing to this people how you felt about me regardless what people may say. Gouda, people attack you because you speak up what you believe - and they don't aggree with you and make fun of you and you don't have such dog as mine. Have a wonderful time guys! From Shtal. |

| Gouda Im not a fan of PM,s,I like keeping things in the open, that way everyone knows what Im saying and thinking. That is very funny. It is exactly the opposite of what you do, this thread proves that. What a bunch of crap. |

| Shtal.......I feel your pain...been there. I am sorry that you had this experience with the breeder. I think it was honorably for your friend, Gouda, to come to your defense. I do not want to put words in their mouth but I am sure they started the thread out of frustration for your situation. I totally and completely see their point. Plus, what a true friend to keep their promise to you. I also agree with Gouda in a couple instances. To my naive eye, the WL breeders, are quite vocal about having the only "real german shepherds who can work". They sem to put a lot of other bloodlines down. It does bother me when they say this. I see a lot of WL dogs that have no type (they look like belgian malinois to me with incorrect coat and eyes) and have over the top drives. I did not know about the bad hips and elbows but I am not shocked as people overlook these things if their animal is a superstar in the ring. I watched the video of the big show and the crowd hoots and hollers if a big dog comes flying in and bites hard and gets swung around. I think people would still breed to the dog if his hips and elbows were questionable as their end game is victory in the Sport Ring. But, I have also seen a lot of REALLY beautiful WL dogs with great type and balanced temperaments that OFA with good hips and elbows. Same goes for ASL dogs. In addition, I have seen GSL dogs that seem to do the ring sport just fine. I think there are great representatives in all the different types and also very poor ones! But, I do get sick of hearing that only WL dogs are true german shepherds blah-blah. It's not fair and it creates division in our breed. We need to support each other and recognize good points in each and also weaknesses. However, more importantly I think .....we need to look at the individual dog and judge if that particular dog is what a breeder wants not just what his bloodline is. I am sorry again for your experience with the breeder. I am pretty new to everything so this is just my take from someone standing on the outside and looking in. Thus, take my comments with a grain of salt! Oh, for what it's worth......... I own a WL dog. |

| Yes, but why does Smiley think Gouda has not broken any promises with you, Shtal? And why are you happy letting Smiley think they understand what is going on here? Clearly there needs to be a re-reading to correctly understand that you are not the breeder of the dog Gouda's club member owns, before all the righteous in this mudpile start to smell like roses. |
by Red Sable on 27 September 2011 - 16:41 |
| I think Smiley thinks Shtal is the friend of gouda's that got the two crap dogs. Smiley is definitely confused. |
by Smiley on 27 September 2011 - 17:43 |
| Red Sable..yeah, I did think that...oops!! Yeah, now I really am confused!! Oh, well. I was directing my post at the person who got the two bad dogs..I thought it was this Shtal but I guess I was wrong. It's hard to figure out the posts as it seems like sometimes people are speaking a special language to each other!! My apologies.. Carry on...... |
by Red Sable on 27 September 2011 - 17:49 |
| No problem Smiley, we actually do not know who the person is that got these two dogs, nor do we know who the breeder is, so we are all confused. |
by Smiley on 27 September 2011 - 18:08 |
| Red Sable- Ok, I guess I don't feel as bad now for being so lost!! |
