RIP Annabell vom Goldwald by Elkoorr on 12 September 2011 - 18:04 |
Anni fell ill last wednesday evening with a temp and standing hunched. A trip to the vet and an x-ray did show some possible pieces of bone and some gas, but no defenite blockage. With antibiotics the temp came down and she looked better. But then yesterday she stopped eating, was just drinking some water; no vomiting or diarrhea the entire time. Took her back in this morning for another x-ray. This one showed a pneumothorax! Couldnt believe it as she still wanted to play ball earlier. My vet called up a specialist and discussed the case. Diagnosis at this point very very poor as this was a spontaneous pneumothorax; we dont know what exactly the cause of her illness was, and that it could reoccur at any given time. Suggestion was to let her go. RIP Annabell 1/23/2011 - 9/12/2011 You have been a fun pup to be with. I will miss you!

I'm so sorry you lost your beautiful pup. It hurts especially hard when they are still only babies! I lost a 2 year old dog this past May and am still grieving heavily.

Elkoorr, such a heartbreak for you...such a beautiful young girl, her impishness and intelligence projected in her expression. Clearly, you gave her a joyful life, until this freak occurence stole her from you. My condolences to you.

Thank you all for your support. Its quieter now around here, even with 5 other dogs. She was a crazy little bitch and very mischievous. Couldnt do anything when she was around; went after the shovel, the dirt, the water hose, pooper scooper .... name it... LOL As puppy she was first in everything. She climbed out of the puppy box to go and poop, and climbed back in. We were wondering how that was possible until we caught her one day! Even though she will be forever in our hearts, she leaves a visibly empty spot and it is tempting to fill it right away to ease the pain. It was the first time in 10 years of marriage that I saw my husband crying like a little kid. The staff at my vet office made me a molded paw print, which was a really nice gesture. Anni will be always with us, one way or another. Sina & Kevin with Axl, Sky, Apache, Tunguska, Ava and Smokey the cat :)
