2-3 linebreeding by jimbean on 01 September 2011 - 14:31 |
| How many of you would/have done a 2-3 linebreeding? This will be full uncle/niece? Any comments? |

| I would do it under the right circumstances. I was considering breeding a Capri daughter back to Sid v.d. Fasanerie and trying to research what skeletons may be lurking in that closet. Not exactly what you asked, but close-ish. Why do you ask? |

| I am with Yogi. It all depends on what you think you can get from the breeding. Typically it is done to strengthen the bloodline which will bring out positives and negatives. Usually a pup from that you would then do a Outcross on. |

It seems like you dont see a 2-3 line breeding that often on top comp. dogs, but more often than not you do see some kind of line breeding, a 4-5 and 5-5 are prob the most common. Troll vom Haus Milinda was a 2-3 dog on Fado |

http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/german_shepherd_dog/para.utkoma?fadir=509123&modir=577883 This is a 2X4 on Troll Vom Haus Milinda, Being Troll was a line breed dog it,s not always needed to outcross the next generation. To date this litter is showing exceptional drives and are all placed in working homes. |

| I'm just learning about linebreeding and reading pedigrees. So this thread could be very interesting for me. When you say 2-3 I'm assuming you are just counting the squares on the pedigree? What would it be if it was half sister and half brother? Would that be one that is considered too close? Just a hypothetical, while learning about linebreeding that was a question I had was if there is one that is too close. I don't plan on doing this just wondering. I understand you have to becareful, but you should becareful when picking mates while outcrossing too. I see a lot of benefits to linebreeding I'm reading and researching the ins and outs now just looking for an opinion on different hypotheticals to help me better understand it. Thanks |

| Yes donner count the boxes, must have a common dog from both the sire side being the first number and the Dam side being the sec number, have to see a same dog comming from both sides, can be male or female, but you see males linebred on more often than females,it rare to see anything closer than a 2-2 breeding and seems like many dont like to see closer than a 2-3 or 3-2 linebreeding.when you do pedigree searches on this site they make it easy and show you the line breeding of the dog or no common ances. |

| Ron Sorry but i have not seen a full result myself yet, I went there and all was going well when a friend phoned me to ask if i could return home to help him out, That was about 1.30 in the afternoon so i missed a fair bit. I know Julian won it but not the other places. Ronny van den Berghe did not conpete with Como i was talking to him earlier in the morning and he was not a happy man. He fractured his arm at work on the Tuesday prior to the Championship and had to pull out. Steve1 |
