Elmo crosses all barriers where GSD's are concerned just what the breed needed at this time. Everything crossed for Sunday, go show them what a proper Shepherd looks like.

Any one know who best in show judge is ?
by Lennard on 12 March 2011 - 16:21 |
BIS Judge:- Dr Paolo Dondina Mr. Dondina has had a number of breeds, and has bred Beagles, Basset Hounds, English Springer Spaniels, Lagoto Romagnolos and Jack Russell Terriers. He has had great success as an exhibitor, including as the co-owner of Brookwire Brandy of Layven, the Wirehaired Fox Terrier that captured Best In Show at the famed Crufts Dog Show in the United Kingdom in 1975. One of his Beagles was the top dog in all breeds in Italy in 2005. He has been recognized as an all-breed judge by the Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI) since 1985, and has judged all over the world. A lawyer by profession, he lives in a converted farmhouse in Tuscany.

Wire Fox Terrier has won the Group and the owner has an Italian sounding name! Lets hope he was an old adversary and he won't want to give it to him!

Congratulations to ALL winners and especially to Elmo in gaining Best of Breed and the Pastoral Group win. because of the public awareness of Crufts there can be no doubt that this success will help counter the negative publicity our breed has suffered, particularly over the past year and mainly though the Kennel Clubs negative attitude towards our GSD breed and its discriminatory "GSD Undertaking", heightened by the failure of our GSD Breed Council to adopt a united and challenging policy to counter it. Perhaps relations between the Kennel Club and our GSD breed, here within the UK, can get on a much better footing and maybe we can start making some meaningful progress. The REMOVAL of the "GSD Undertaking" would be a very good start.

The fact that the B.I.S. judge has bred and shown wire fox terriers should preclude him from judging the final. A reserve judge skould be appointed that has no vested interest in any of the breeds being shown in the final.

Beautiful male and a well deserved win! Thank you for the video Lennard - I really enjoyed that as didn't make it to the show this year. Good luck for tonight Elmo! Fingers and paws crossed here for you.

Well done Elmo and his connections. No Best in Show but he banged on the door and put the breed back in the public eye. Elmo bettered his Sire the German Sieger Zamp v Thermados. Mackenzie
