Yes congratulations to Veneze kennels too. When was the last time a GSD won best in group at crufts? Also when did a GSD last win BIS at crufts? Good luck for Sunday, I will be watching and cheering for Elmo.

Anyone know a link where I can get the full results from the GSD ring crufts 2011 today?

The last GSD BIS at Crufts was Ramacon Swashbuckler in 1971. Before that Fenton of Kentwood was BIS in 1967 and Nibelung of Charavigne in 1969 Mackenzie

Congrats to the dog a most deserved win.Not being pickie but is it not more to do with the breeder than a buy in owner ?

Arbeiter, if it was just the case of buying a dog which has the potential to achieve top awards then more people would be successful. Not only should the breeder be congratulated but the whole team on the promotion of "Elmo" in the UK, Well done to John and Pauline Cullen, Steve Cox and also Stevie Alker. This is just the recognition needed at a time when progress is being made to promote all the Health issues associated with our breed and it`s future . "Elmo" ticks all the boxes. So congratulations not just for the "Team" but everyone involved with "Elmo" and we hope his success continues on Sunday. |

To answer arbeiter's pickie point, the success in this case is about the breed and not about who the breeder is, or, who the owner is. The important thing about this success is that as far as Crufts is concerned it has brought our breed in from the cold and has pushed the breed back to the forefront in the public eye. When it comes to BIS on Sunday a world wide audience will see that our breed is once again banging on the door for top honours in what many will see as the pinnacle of success. Having noted that over two hundred people have read this thread I would have thought that more would have been generous and acknowledged this success of Elmo. Mackenzie

Congratulations to everyone involved with Elmo. I was watching it last night and said to my partner, what a shame that this dog doesn't stand a chance with all this controversy surrounding the German Shepherd Dog, and with that he was picked out to join the final 8. Then I sat on the edge of my seat actually believing for the first time in years that a GSD would get a fair crack at the title........and he won.....yay !!!!!!! I can't wait for Sunday, and even if he doesn't win, what an ambassador for the GSD in this country. I bet the Kennel Club are smiling through gritted teeth at the moment. lol Well done !!!
