I ran a breed test on my rescue dog after adopting him. While they aren't supposed to be a test for purebred lineage, and many people are skeptical about them, his results came back "only german shepherd dog was detected". I wonder if that is how it would come back for these dogs as well? Heather

I Volunteer for a Animal Rescue Group and we pulled several Dogs from a GSD Puppy Mill. I pulled an 18 month old Brindle Male. Knowing the Ethics of this Breeder who knows but I wanted to share a picture of a Brindle Marked GSD. He is doing great by the way.. He has come out of his shell so to speak and should be adopted soon

Another thread, something "coat" shows what appears to be a brindle GSD pup. I'd say within the last week on here. This is it: "What you think about", by Elkoorr, 01/27/11

I happen to have a Dutch Shepherd...He is a very nice Brindle. I also have a Sable GSD. She is very nice. Both very different. Although people on the street try and tell me my sable is a Brindle and my Brindle is a sable. Makes me laugh. I have only seen true Brindle color in the Dutchie. Never ever in a GSD. I have seen some odd colored sables...but still would not consider them "Brindle" So I would think if you had a Shepherd that was a Brindle and you have no idea what the pedigree is.....my conclusion would be its a mix, or a Dutch Shepherd. DNA testing would tell you the breed, and the color.
