Anyway, they look like German showlines to me...having seen all your pdb photos!

Subject: Palatka, FL: 2 Purebred AKC German Shepards (altered, UTD, HW-), need rescue ASAP!!!!!

Just talked to the owner on the phone. They have lost their jobs and are selling most of what they have and relocating to Texas. They cannot afford the dogs and cannot afford a place to live that would allow them to keep them even if they could afford them.

These dogs need to be out by Monday July 5th since this is when they well be moving to Texas.

We all know what will happen if they cannot rehome them: pound or euthanize. :(

Owner of the 2 dogs:

Karen Stumpff

(386) 385-3903

Here is what the owner sent us.

This is the only photo I have. tucker is the one looking directly at the camera, Sam is the other.

Tucker is male about 6.5 years old, and sam is 8 years old. Both dogs are fixed and up to date on their shots and heart worm treatments.

Both dogs were raised around teens but not small children. They do well at the vets but have spent most of their time with each other only; not well socialized to other animals. Both had basic training. Both walk on the lease but with a pinch collar (I have never been able to wean them off that collar)

Both are full GSD, AKC registered, full german lines.

Sam is high strung very much an alpha female (fixed). She would require someone with skill. She is protective of the house. She does not do well with cats and has taken to being obsessed with any moving creature here in Florida. Since we have been here she has developed skin allergies which has only added to her misery. She has a lot of energy.

Tucker is a submissive male, very much a gentle soul. He hardly ever barks, but does follow some of Sam's bad habits at times. He is also fixed. I have no idea how he would do around other animals or small children since he was not raised that way. I do know that if sam focuses her attention on something in the yard, Tucker will follow suit, but left on

Its always so heartwrenching hearing these kinds of stories.Cant help but think what will happen to these 2 dogs. They have been together for a long time by the sounds of it and  will probably be split up when rehomed. It would be awesome if the same person would be able to adopt both.I guess as long as they are kept safe and get a GOOD home it would'nt be so bad.Hope all works out for them.I wish some breeders would back off on all the breedings so we would'nt continue to read stories like this(no disrespect to the original poster).Yea I know,I sound like a bleeding heart to some but if you saw and experienced  what I did today maybe you would understand.Take care and good luck.

These are two of the most magnificent specimens of German Shepherd Dogs I have ever seen.  The owners have lost everything they have and must relocate to Texas.  They can longer care for these beautiful dogs.  I have spoken with the owner and she says that they will leave for Texas on July 5th,  The dogs will be put down if not adopted or rescued before then.  They are truly heartsick but they don’t want them to fall in to the wrong hands.  I do not believe this is a typical case of owners throwing their dogs away.  They are truly beautiful and have been cared for.  They are UTD on shots, on HW prevent and have been spayed/neutered so these are not irresponsible owners.  I have sent to GSD rescues but no response.  I love this breed and wish I could taken them but I just cannot.  If you can save these gorgeous dogs please help.  The contact information is below.  The clock is ticking for them.

Has the breeder/breeders of these dogs been contacted?

If not, then they SHOULD be--responsible breeders take back the dogs they bring into this world when the dogs lose what was supposed to be their 'forever' home...

If the breeder(s) have been contacted, and are unwilling to provide a safe haven for these dogs, then perhaps the name of the breeder(s) should be mentioned so they can be publicly recognized for their 'dedication' to the breed.

So sad - it still happens all the time. Hopefully they will find a safe haven in time.

hexe - I dont want to stirr anything up, we really have enough drama on the pdb allready, but your assumption on the dedication of the breeders, if they are not willing to take back a dog that they bred over 6 and 8 years ago, is, excuse me, pretty lame.

With all due respect, I know times can be hard, outcry for help on June 27th, dogs have to be gone July 5th ! Hard to believe that the owners did not know about their situation earlier and started to search for a safe home for their animals. I personally doubt that it will be possible to find suitible homes for them in this short timeperiot - but I sure hope so for these dogs.

I think the way it works in these situations is, "I'm trying to find a place where I can have them and will keep trying until the last minute." From what the rescue people have said, the owners were extremely upset about having to rehome the dogs. It's not just another "I have to move and can't take my dogs with me." Or anyway, that's what they believe. But I will poke around and make sure that they have tried to reach the breeder.

I often use Craigslist.org and under the Pets I post my dogs for adoption.  I am very particular how to write the ad.  I adopt out locally only so I can inspect the new home, make them pay for the spay or neuter, sign a contract and stay in touch with those adopting homes.  The dogs can ALWAYS come back to me, whether sold or adopted out.   No and's if and but's about it.  Also, in my adoption and sales contract, no one, NO ONE, can destroy an animal without my permission at an early age or for such reason as is mentioned in the post.

At least give them to a non kill shelter.

I find all sorts of holes in this story, I'm sorry to say.   It pisses me off to no end to hear such a guilt trip story they are putting on us, and basically abandoning these loyal dogs.

Try Craigslist in other words...

Hey thanks for that, Jim. I was waiting for an email...figured they must be placed as the panic phase seemed over.

There was NOTHING hinky about this situation...and craigslist is the shittiest place ever for homing dogs...unless you just want them out of your sight and are not too worried about the home they go to.
