| the person on the video was horrid the female is frightened of him far to hard handed with her what an ass sorry but I hate to see that kind of handling the female I sure was once a nice stable animal but not now god only knows what the pups will be like if this ass is rearing them Rosey |

| Shoestring, the helper on the video was just doing his job in a trial. This is a trial, a breed survey, not training. In a trial situation if a dog comes off the sleeve it is the helper's job to go at the dog. If anything this helper 'helps' that bitch as much as possible short of running off the field himself. |

There is another dog, Alex, on the kennels website, I was looking at a pup from him. This video of him makes him look as the female did, without courage.. What are some thoughts on this? |
by shostring on 23 May 2010 - 22:47 |
| Hi I understand about the helper all I was saying was the female was frightened of him I just felt that he was a bit heavy handed with a dog that is not stable sorry for getting it wrong about the helper |

| Blaupaul, does that black bitch belong to you? How did you come to post video of her on youtube? |
by blaupaul on 24 May 2010 - 07:46 |
| Hi ! If that female would belong to me she would have a great life as a family dog and coach patatoe. And would not beeing used to just produce puppies!!!! The video is being published from the owner of the female Paul Zimmermann right after the breedsurvey. He blamend the helper for the desaster and said the helper was unfair. After a lot of opinions from real GSD knowers telling him that it happened because of quality issues of the female he took the video of and since that he is hiding it so nobody can see it. Of course he figured out that he won´t sell any pup to anybody who see´s the tape. He is not telling the truth to the puppy buyers just to get them sold and make money . He takes 1000,- euro for each puppies. A lot of people are concerned about the breeder. |

Is the helper supposed to wrench a dog's spine like that as soon they are on the sleeve? I've watched quite a few protection trainings and videos and I don't think I've seen a helper twist a dog's spine in over a sharp 180 like that. She also cringed just at doing a right turn heeling, with her handler, never mind being afraid during the helper work. How old is this dog in the video? Heather |

| I watched the Alex video as well. He's tucking his tail and very hesitant after his leash pops. And they are not effective; they do not get the dog back in the right position or get a faster response from him. To me this looks like correcting a dog that has no flipping clue what the correction is for or what he's supposed to be being "reminded" to do correctly. Heather |

Ok, so let me ask this, do you think it is more the training that is causing the dogs to appear hesitant or the temperment of the dogs? I love the look of Alex but am now thinking twice about the purchase of the pup if the temperment is not correct..I saw a video of him working but he appeared to work well, it was also with a different handler.. |

| You can have a pup from SchH3 parents that when fully grown will not show enough drive to complete SchH1 and there will be pups that will be great in SchH3 even if their parents weren't. Watch how the pup you are looking at is with prey drive and hold on a tug toy, how the pup is interacting, is he/she shy or outgoing - I think those traits say more than any potential genetic dispostion. |

| Seems to be a well bred girl. The video does not impress me into wanting to buy a pup from her at those (1k euro) prices. IMPO, the handler seemed a bit tentative, not necessarily fearful. Maybe new to the dog.. However, it all goes to show that the best laid plans can get waylaid in the execution. I'd be more interested to see what her offspring (she's about 6 y.o.) have done as she may produce better than she is. |

| Wow! This was truly a dissappointment and shows how a dog can be trained to bite but cannot be trained to have courage. I'm not trying to shoot down the dog as a dog.. maybe she has great character and a wonderful dog, but in my opinion does not have the nerves for protection. |

| I just looked briefly, but my quick thoughts were that I would not put that video on the internet if it were me... the training does not look finished or good. The dogs fussing was poor, the out was bad, not a good bite, the aus-fuss was terrible, dog did not even come to position. The dog seems to have too much nervous energy and a poor bite at this point in training when the video was taken. |
