| I have a 7 month old female GSD that is recently showing dry yness of the coat on the top of her back only.I do feed her good food. (Blue Buffalo) I've been feeding the same food to her for months now, and her coat was always beautiful.I did use a cheaper dog shampoo on her last wash. I'm thinking that might be the problem. What is a good shampoo& conditioner that I can use to get the fur back to normal. I'm also open to food supliments to get her back as well.' |

| I would add some wild alaskan salmon oil to your dogs food. It really helps! |

| How many months since you switched to the BB? Remember that it may take a couple months for you to see a change in the hair coat, so it might be possible the coat change is due to the food change. Something as simple as adding 1-2 tsps. of corn oil to her food may improve her coat. That would be an economical way; you could use instead salmon oil or Linatone. Don't know about any particular shampoo, but I'm sure there are "dry coat" ones in the pet supply stores that might work. Are you sure it's dry coat and because of her age, she's not just changing into adult coat? |

| The reason why I think it's the shampoo is because it started right after I bathed her. It's show a littel dru skin on top as well. I will try to give her soem salmon oli. Is there a specific brand that is just for dogs?? |

| Grizzly salmon oil and a coconut based shampoo (never use a soap based shampoo). Don't shampoo more than once every two months. If you really want to get the best coat ever, go to a raw diet. |

| the hair that you see is already dead, you can put a conditioner on it to make it look better for the near term. long term, add oils and fat to her feed, and give a vitamin. |

| I can recommend "Greenfields Birch Tar Shampoo". It's natural and great for dry coat! It has a little bit of a tar smell to it but its worth it! Additionally, I feed a raw egg and a table spoon of organic Canola oil. |

| The fish oil supplements do really well for helping a dry coat from the inside. So does an egg once a week. It may take a few weeks though to notice a difference. From the sounds of it, it probably is because of the cheap shampoo. I am a groomer and have noticed certain shampoos will dry out a coat and skin, as well as not rinsing well enough. I would recommend an oatmeal shampoo and conditioner. Or a shampoo with tea tree in it. Also over brushing can cause dander. Good luck! Oh and Miracle Coat is IMO, an awesome product. I used the shampoo, conditioner and spray on condition in between baths, since my dogs are bathed more frequently than they really should be. Stacy |
