| Well looking at the results of the above trials it looks as if the two i mentioned being the only Qualifiers of that event of the BAGSD event and if there other trials have been passable scores then those two could be selected from the BAGSD side the rest of the team should come from the GSDL side there results are far Superior overall certainly the first 5 are, It is the team which is important not individual members |

| Hi Steve; We (GSDL) hope BAGSD see the merits of the joint trial proposal they have on the table, specifically in the light of the recent direction from the WUSV. If that Trial occurs there can be no argument, and the dogs who attend will have truly earned the right to attend, and be the best we have available. Also, I feel that a team selected in such a way, no matter frrom which organisation, must have the universal support of all in the UK, which will be positive. (it would certainly have my wholehearted support) Here's to hoping.... Cheers Nugget |

| Nugget having a joint Trial and then the best Dogs going through is really the only way to get the best Dogs and that is how it should be , and for me that is all that matters the best overall team to represent the UK, Egos should not ever come into it, if you are a True supporter of the Breed and the SchH Sport,. Over here the selection is really rigorous, no quarter given to anyone person or Dog, We have had our two Selection Trials but that does not mean the winning Dogs go through, They must perform in the Belgian Championships in August if they are to be selected, and to be honest i would not safety say any dog would be sure to go at this time, I am hoping Izzys Daddy will but he is not sure yet anything can happen all we want is the most consistent dogs and Handlers to go forewards to bring back the Honours or the best chance of doing it, If one can win the individual title along the way that would be great, but Team performance first I hope it gets sorted and the two Bodies see that a Joint Trial is the most fairest way of getting the best team and then work together as a team to get the results in Sevilla Steve1 |

| hi Steve; to put this into a context, it is important to know some of the background. Dog sport started pretty late in the UK, around 1990; however, it expanded rapidly under the auspices of a national, but unrecognized, association, The British Schutzhund Association (BSA). (The British KC at this time were pretty anti schutzhund). The BSA was, nevertheless, holding successful National Championships overseen by well recognized International Judges and helpers by 1995. The association was governed by a council of the elected clubs. Progress was hampered by the punitive UK quarentine regulations in force at the time in terms of international competition, but we did manage some exellent international events with our Irish friends. In 2000 after the lifting of the said quarentine regulations we did send a team to WUSV in Austria; (outcome was poor) after that, things rapidly improved as the BSA organized stringent qualification events on behalf of the 2 WUSV member clubs, the GSDL and BAGSD. The Council of the BSA organized negotiations with these 2 bodies to form closer relationships. In the meantime. performances at WUSV rapidly improved; I think we had decent results in 2004 and 2005. In 2006 a small group of the BSA broke away after covert negotiations with BAGSD and organized their own organization (BAGSD VPG) In that year, the BSA joined the GSDL as a consequence, and remained the far larger organisation. Selection trials were to all intent open and that year and we again had a reasonable result at WUSV. In 2007 we started with a separate selection process, but at this time BAGSD had some good individual dog/handler teams so things were not so bad in Denmark. It was only in 2008 and 2009 that things went badly wrong. which is a shame, because I got the feeling before this that we were making progress. It does not help that BAGSD have lost many of it's more experienced handlers to the League, and the ones that remain that had good dogs in the past have not as yet managed to replace them; this in my view has led to the present imbalance between the organizations and the necessity for joint trials in order to get the best team. (which BAGSD are unwilling to do) Nugget. |

| Well Nugget In that case BAGSD are wrong in the way they think, It is no good thinking only of yourselves that will never get anyone forwards, If they continue not to co operate we will see later on in the Year if they were right or wrong in not doing so Perhaps there only criteria is to get individuals to the WUSV and not bother about team effort Steve1 |

Obviously BAGSD's take the saying "Its not all about winning but in taking part" just a little too literally !!  So glad the UK doesnt have the same type of selection process for our Olympic athletes, otherwise we would have very few Gold Medals to celebrate. We all know the importance of the above saying but where the representation of ones Country in competition is the key, there IS and indeed SHOULD be a difference between "Taking part" and "Partaking" and that is that the BEST should be taking part and the others should be partaking in that decision. I am proud to be British and if I am to be represented I would always chose to be represented by the Best we have to offer, then and only then am I happy to say "Its not all about the winning but in the taking part". | If the UK do not send there very best team then they will unfortunatly be the laughing stock of the WUSV, Some of the comments regards the 2009 team were made to me in Krefeld, i did defend them because i thought the comments not justified but reading this thread i know i was not warranted to do so i should have agreed with the ones saying it and they were believe it or not two Americans and a Guy from Canada I will not repeat here what they said but Guys if you read this, then you were right and i was wrong to defend the UK team It is not easy to get selected but only the very best team should go forewards I think it would be an honour to represent your country, and i know the huge amount of time and work it takes a handler and his dog to even get to selection Trials let alone get selected, it is tremendous. But it is for me the team which counts and only the team first thats what the competition is all about firstly the best team then the out right winner second Steve1 |

| I think a lot of people tuhinkk the same as yo Steve but Mr Nye has only been interested in his own self interests fro many years now and i think only intervention from the WUSV giving him NO choice will get competitors from BOTH Associations on the same field, it will be good for the UK but only if it happens |

| Steve If you follow this link you will find the BAGSD criteria for selection http://vpguk.com/#/wusvfci-2010/4532242735 you will see their process is not complete till end June it allows club trial scores to be counted even your own club and the results are not alwats that easy to find! |
