| bill, i personally think that most new league members will be those who are members of their local breed club(for me it would have been Kent)who,s club has signed the undertaking(at present dont know if kent has or not)and they were not in favor of signing.i do think yu have a point tho.Carole S. |

| I would imagine that the league will implement things in stages as in hip/elbow scoring heam testing for all members as like you said bill we do not want to do the same as the KC, but for the moment at least we need to get every thing up and running, so lets say the league starts a compulsory health tests for members dogs from 2012 onwards that would be for all dogs of breeding age, In time i would like to see the league start a proper pedigree service with all working qualifications and health tests included in the paper work. Plus lets not forget when of age all our dogs will need to be tested to enter the LG type shows that is a good start and the league can continue from there jim h |

| 'So lets say the league starts a compulsory health tests for members dogs from 2012 onwards that would be for all dogs of breeding age'. Why does the League have to wait until 2012 to start compulsory health tests? The breed has made so much public outcry about the KC not insisting on mandatory health testing, why would all breeders not be doing it voluntarily anyhow???? |

Mark, If you could manage to make your post sounds less accusatory, you'd get a better response. You've been quite clear about your support of the ABS, have you started your campaign yet? |
by Mark3 on 05 April 2010 - 22:03 |
| I am in support of an ABS but not the ABS as it currently stands at the moment. I am not in support of a campaign to turn the public towards pet shops, PF and BYB breeding cross breeds and designer all sorts. I believed I had made that quite clear. I am sorry you feel my post was accusatory; I felt it was a valid statement, maybe you could come up with a better way of phrasing it so that it does not hit a nerve…..maybe????? I cannot understand why breeders have not been testing voluntarily anyhow since the schemes became available. |
by missbeeb on 05 April 2010 - 22:18 |
Lots of breeders do test, I have no idea what the % is and clearly, neither do you. Who's been turning the public towards pet shops and the like? Frankly, their chances of getting a healthy puppy may be no worse than if they followed the KC's advice; that may easily lead them to a puppy farmer!
You're not hitting on any of my nerves, Mark... 13 years since I bred a litter! 2012 would seem reasonable to most, if the League are to implement mandatory testing, it can't happen overnight and it won't be cheap either. Bespoke software and possibly an employee will be necessary. |
by Mark3 on 05 April 2010 - 22:41 |
| I am not looking at %; I only have to look at the BRS, and like I said before, the schemes have been in place for years. All the League have to do is insist as a condition of membership, if are breeders, they health test their stock before breeding, easy to spot check, and they won’t need any software, an employee or wait to 2012. But breeders will be doing it voluntarily now anyhow, won‘t they??? |
by missbeeb on 06 April 2010 - 06:40 |
Yes, the schemes have been in place for years.................... and breeders have been using them for years, but not all of them. Making it a condition of membership... well what about those that are already members? Yours is not a great plan, Mark! 2012 is absolutely fine and workable. You always sound so annoyed and angry... hardly able to wait to tell everyone off. Well, if you think everyone's got it all so wrong, why not offer your services, free of charge to a branch of the League, it would be healthier and more productive than silly nitpicking!

| Missbeeb, it is important to avoid the accusation of hypocrisy for any club finding it’s feet and leading down the WUSV way. Waiting until 2012 to make health testing mandatory is something the critiques will jump on, especially after all the publications that have been in the papers from the breed over the last year about the KC’s shortcomings. If I didn’t care or thought it was not something that very much needs addressing to avoid giving the KC something else to batter the breed with, then I would have simply said nothing. Think about it. |

Dear God Mark... you ARE one of the critics, you and a few (suddenly regular) other posters who think it's OK to knock everything before any chance has been given. What a God send you people are! You guys are apparently wonderful at pointing out all the shortcomings, but where are you? Where's all this great help and advice ON THE DAY, when you could actually be useful?2012 gives enough time to get it right... and we want to get it right, not make a hash of it that will need re-doing and give our critics, much needed, ammunition. This is our chance, probably our one and only chance... so, it's vital that things are done properly. Think about it! If you have the breed and its' betterment at heart, Mark... support is what's needed. |

| Mark, Missbeeb is right have you never heard of softly softly catchee monkey. Lets do it right, nice and slowly and get it right rather than blunder straight in and it all fall to peices. Jess |

| ‘we want to get it right’ One that cares about the breed would not wait until 2012; they would do it voluntarily now. |
