Isolina (many new pics may load slowly) by VomRuiz on 09 February 2010 - 09:08 |
Hey All, Just a quick note to let my friends on here know my new girl Isolina is home! Took her out of the crate and got tons of kisses... I put a leash and collar on her and she picked up the part of the leash that was hanging down and walked herself around! Imagine that! She's never had a collar or a leash on before. She ate a small meal and drank a little water. When I went upstairs to tuck my 3 year old in to bed I turned around and there she was. I have never had an 8 week old puppy go up the stairs his or her first night home. She is now sleeping under the computer desk... funny how ALL 4 of my GSDs pick that spot to nap whenever Matt or I am on here. Anyway I am going to add a few pictures one at a time. My computer is acting up pretty bad, so if I don't respond right away (here or by email) you'll know I am waiting on my repair guy to come over :-) Love you guys!!! Stacy

Ok last one for now... It's 1:15 a.m. here and just ran Isolina outside to pee (2 for 2 so far! woohooo!) She's now tugging at my pants ;-) My darling husband has to leave for work in a couple of hours so I am going to run and make him some breakfast... A small Thank You. for him indulging me in yet another dog ;-) Oh and listening to me fret all day about what could go wrong, and what if she gets sick, and what if her flight is cancelled and what if... you get the picture ;-) LOL And of course driving me to the airport to pick her up, leaving him 5 hours of sleep before a 16 hour day... LOVE YOU MATT!!!

Welcome home, Isolina! So how's Indi handling another puppy in the house? Does she know?

Great news! Thanks for sharing the pics. Sounds like you already have your hands full with a pup that has conquered the stairs at this age. Hang on to your hat! I think it's going to be a wild ride. Congrats of course and more pics any time.

Thanks guys! Funny a couple of you mentioned the stairs with her keeping me busy... I was so proud last night, as I was when Indi first went up the stairs, I wasn't thinking of the trouble part lol. The dogs are not allowed upstairs when I am not up there, and just to be chatty....I have to lock my bedroom door to keep my three year old son out of there. (Last time I assumed he was playing nicely in his room he was actually painting in my room. With nail polish. On my wall. And his own fingers and toes... And spilled two whole bottles on my light beige carpet. All of a sudden, I smelled it and *knew* LOL) So anyway I don't need my youngest child or my puppies getting into trouble up there by themselves :-) I think all she needed was the 6 hours of sleep we got last night. She's already running around with her toys- and my son's that I never bothered to pick up before bed ;-) That won't matter though because as soon as he wakes up the entire toy box would be emptied on the floor anyway. I tried puppy proofing before I left for the airport last night and brought all of his toys upstairs. When I called the babysitter to check on him she told me how he brought down two diaper bags full of his smaller toys to "show her." sigh... I give up... And No jason I haven't introduced her to Indi yet. She sleeps in her kennel outside like the big dogs. Later on I will put Indi in her crate inside so they can get used to each other... Indi is very dominant and I don't want her punking Lina (my son's nickname for her) She seems pretty confident and if I let her near Indi now she'll get hurt. Her first introduction will be to Jena (as I did with Indi) Jena adores other dogs, especially puppies...But that will be a few weeks away too, just because Jena is such a big doofus she might unintentionally hurt her. The only ones I let run together (always supervised) are Galan and Jena or Indi and Jena. Galan is also dominant so I can't even let Indi run with him. He's too cranky towards other dogs. He was attacked once at about a year old, and ever since then he doesn't like dogs approaching him nose to nose. He doesn't seek out trouble and is being taught to watch me and not eyeball other dogs, but he still cannot be trusted to "play" yet. Well I went on and on, as usual... Thanks again for the compliments on her. Stacy

Shady, Matt is great... I would have been devastated (yes I'm dramatic sometimes) if he had said NO. But he realized this was our only opportunity to get one bred like her, so he agreed... She has been very outgoing and has already learned that "Lina Come!" means a treat :-) I am trying to refrain from using any of the "field" commands at home... Cee, Yes she sure went after my pants already, and she also like shoes :-) Her appetite is great and drinking plenty of water. I gave her a little kibble last night and for breakfast. This afternoon she had a raw chicken leg for lunch and loved it, She'll have the same for dinner... Mobjack...I pm'ed you Stacy
