I'm starting this thread to balance out the one on extreme dogs. I've been criticized in the past for keeping a file of 'ugly dogs'. Well, I ALSO have a file of dogs I like, and it's MUCH larger than the other one. The dogs in it aren't necessarily all-time greats, though the majority of them are well-know. It may just be that SOMETHING about them caught my eye. I am attracted to dogs that have good bone, nice, straight toplines with good withers, and harmonious overall proportions (length of back to height ratio) I think this is why a dog like Manhattan catches my eye, even though his overall conformation had its flaws:

Here are a couple of other examples:

Dallas (Kismet's Sight for Sore Eyes) had the most GORGEOUS head!

Lartus v. Kirschental is a VERY handsome showline. A wee bit heavy for my tastes, but a real eyecatcher, nonetheless.

Two VERY nice looking working line dogs, Bandit v. Wolfsheim, and Eliot v. Prevent:

A beautiful, effortless-looking trot from SG Sirko Von Der Jahnhohe:

Finally, my favourite Canadian dog. He is currently the top rated dog in Canada.  When I see dogs like this, I start to have some hope for the North American GSD... Here's Brown-Hill Kysarah's Maricio

So, go ahead, post YOUR favourite dogs!  I have just two requests: we're focussing on looks here, so please don't post a pic and say 'I like this dog because he's a fabulous working dog.'

Second, PLEASE keep the pictures around 400 pixels, so the thread isn't too slow to load!  The editor will offer you the chance to resize the picture before you post. If it doesn't go back and edit, click on the picture, and select 'properties', then resize the width to 400 pixels or less.

Thank you!  I'm looking forward to seeing other people's favourite dogs!

Eliot v. Prevent is one of my favourite wokring dogs. He has a conformation structure which is amazing and brings hope to the GSD, for combining beauty with work

Personally,
In "todays" dogs.......my Top List include........
German Dogs
Shicco von der Freiheit Westerholt
Negus vom Holtkamper See
Zerxis vom Osterberger-Land
Ustinov vom Romerland
Ilbo vom Holtkamper See
Hillson
I also love Elliot v. Prevent......a couple other working line dogs I can't remember names of hand......gotta go look.

American Bred Dogs (German Bloodlines)
Danny vom Wilhendorf
Teejay vom Wilhendorf
I don't know enough about American Show Lines to comment, what is correct for their "standard"....

I also really like the dogs that Chris (Silbersee) is producing.....Onyx is on my list too!
I guess my list is actually kinda long.......so I know that I will forget names.....
The above dogs are being mentioned because of "conformation & structure",...not for any other reasons....I have only met a couple in "person".

I love Paska Salztalblick myself!  As well as Ellex and Branko!

Laxfield's Vinnie the Viper is also a favorite, and I too loved Hatter.  Wish I'd been alive to see him in person :)

Ibraim, could you please go back and press 'enter' in between each ofh those pictures, so they're lined up underneath each other, and not stretching the page? Thank  you!

Who are these dogs, and what do you like about them?

Looks like 2 more pictures of Jip-me, and one of a puppy.

I had to remove one of the pics. I like his chest, head, expression and topline, also the pigmentation.
All the pics are of Quanto, that is his picture when he was a puppy.

Xeph, I just had a look a Vinnie the Viper, and my first reaction was, 'oh, German showline'. THEN I looked at his pedigree.... WOW! Are they sure a German dog didn't jump the fence, and get in with his mom?  That's SOME headpiece on him!

Very impressive looking American line, though his pasterns are a bit long and weak.

And, for some reason, I keep imagining a Chinese speaker trying to pronounce his name...  "Winnie the Wiper!"

ROTFLOL!

Eon von Nimbus. I drool every time an ad with him pops up. I wonder why on earth he hasn't been exhibited in the BSZS.

You betcha! I may like American show lines, but having a west german dog myself I appreciate a PROPER male head!

I must say I LOVE Eliot and I can't believe I forgot Olek!  Love Yello's pasterns and boning!

Yeah, common problem.

And my mistake, while I DO like Vinnie, he is Laxfield's Hit Man, I was thinking of Lindenhill's Vinnie the Viper (who I also like for various reasons).

I also appreciated MarHaven's Color Guard for his moderate structure

And I'll always have a soft spot for this guy:

I like the structure & conformation of Shicco von der Freiheit Westerholt. Sadly I cannot comment on his Gait as I do not know much about the German shepherd’s gaiting. I am trying to find out more on that. I could also do with a bit of help on Schutschund please.

I quite like Zerxis head & expression. He has a happy & sound face.

I also like the struicture and the look of Quanto-Jipo me,
