| The hosting club is doing an excellent job of posting scores. So far all highest scores are GSD's. |

| YAAAAAAAAY!! Just want to mention that Les Flores, Cascade's TD, is there as tracking coordinator. In his heart, he is still a gsd-man. He just slipped into the "dark side" for a while. LOL |

| Heheheheheheheheeee For once, the gsds are triumphant over those "lil red dogs!" I know some will claim that the mals did not send their "A" team. In that case, what would Phil Hoelscher have been doing there? :-) ¶Nope, I think what we have here is a function of the gsds's nerve structure and ability to adapt. Those folks (and dogs) are working at high altitude and a lot of them, like Shade & Reiki, are coming from sea-level to mile-high altitudes and still turning performances to merit those scores. |
by animules on 14 June 2009 - 02:35 |
| Yahoo!!!!!! BTW, Shade won the IPO1 at the AWMA 2008 Nationals with Reiki also. |
by Mystere on 14 June 2009 - 07:25 |
| Oh, yeah, the Mal nationals. But, were there any mals entered in Sch 1 at the AWMA Nationals? I don't recall whether there was, or not. Regardless, it would be interesting to know if the altitude was a factor. After all, WHEN did we ever see this outcome in the past few years? :-) Then again, Al Banuelos got that 100 pt. Performance in the 98 USA Nationals in Denver. Hmmmmm It will be interesting to hear Shade's take on why the mals didn't trounce the gsds. Even more interesting will be Les's take. Anyone called Miss Raylynn? LOL |

| Was happy to see that Shade and Reiki did awesome! I have a fondness for Reiki's litter :-) It will be interesting to see if altitude did play a part. Years ago I was competitive in weight pulling and qualified for the international championships which was held that year in Cheyenne, WY. I ended up traveling to train in a higher altitude several times to prepare for the championships. If a dog is not in top condition that altitude change can really affect them. |

| Psycht, I may be wrong, but my assumption is that all of the dogs in the competition were in top condition. Or, should be. :-) So, mental toughness would be a factor, as would the ability to adapt. There must be some explanation for this event's outcome (which was, admittedly, unexpected). But, HAPPY, HAPPY ABOUT IT!!! LOL |

| Uras, who just won the Sch 2 at AWDF and last time I checked was a malinois, was entered in the 1s at the Mal Nationals last September. Supposedly altitude is not that much of a factor for dogs, unlike humans. Reik didn't seem to be affected. I'd say the mals did pretty well, first, fourth and fifth at IPO 3. There were some really good performances all around, having nothing to do with breed. Great trial! |
by GreenEarthK9 on 15 June 2009 - 16:45 |
The reference to the breed's is just friendly banter ... Mal's in both PSA and Schutzhund excel, so anytime a German Shepherd out scores a Mal in any event is an opportunity for us GS owners to tease the Mal owners. As far as where I'm concerned, it is not to offend any breed. We get our share of teasing for our GS's so it's fun to "back in your face" to the Mal owners in our club
