Can anybody give the correct german spelling and structure for "the house of Gray" or "gray wolf"  for a kennel name?

Our last name is Gray and we would like to incorporate our family name in the kennel name.  I appreciate any help..

Thank-you

You can go to Yahoo Babel Fish to translate anything you want in any language just for your reference.

Please disregard zac's post. Go away from using babel or yahoo or google ect.

Vom Haus Grau (or Vom Grau-Haus) .....  this one relates to your family name

Vom Grauem Wolf ..... this one relates to "wolf";  the "gray" becomes a description of the "wolf"; however..it das not relate to your family name

if your last name is Gray, it would be vom Haus Gray, or vom Gray-Haus
the alternative with wolf would be
vom Gray Wolf, it doesn't have anything to do with the color then
Gray in German is grau

Elkoor's post is correct. And forget these machine language translations from google, babelfish etc. They are often way, way off-base as is the post from Zac.

Yep, Elkoor is correct!
Only one thing which is most likely a typo:
vom grauen Wolf - this would be related to a grey (color) wolf!
Or vom Grau-Wolf (this would be related to Gray Wolf - as a distinct name for that particular wolf sub species which I do not know that there is such, like Timber Wolf).

Howdy,

nice answers, but in generell you do not translate names - I know many peopel do it, but it is not correct.

If you want your name to be part of your kennel name, use it, but do not alter it - a name is a name.

" Zwinger vom Haus Gray "    - this would be most correct or
" Deutsche Schäferhunde vom Haus Gray " - now that sounds pretty good to me !

Hi,

SV registered kennels are "Zuchtstaetten" (plural - singular " Zuchtstaette" ). Correct spelling would be with a "Umlaut" - a with two dots on top, instead of ae, but I don't have that on my keyboard.

If your last name is Gray and you would like to incorporate your name into your kennel registration it could be
" Zuchtstaette fuer Deutsche Schaeferhunde vom Haus Gray", if you are thinking more in the lines of "wolves of Gray" "Zuchtstaette... von den Grayschen Woelfen". Now, if you are refering to the colour grey as in sable, you could use " Zuchtstaette .....von den grauen Woelfen".
Hope that helps,
Chris (English/German translator)

I use bablefish on occasion for single words, but remember that in other languages, sentence structures are also different. I have made a fool of myself on more than one occasion trusting babelfish when writing to my Spanish speaking (husband's) side of the family. lol
