H.D.SHOULD A JUDGE KNOW by opa on 12 April 2010 - 09:15 |
In the U.K.should a judge be aware of the H.D.status of the hips, before a top award is given out. |

| Yes i think they should, because, as the WUSV rules state, a dog must have his hips tested fair or above before being bred. I wish that these rules are made stricter by saying, that dogs which have hips below fair or are not tested should not be bred or shown. Do you agree? |

| This by no means says that i am not happy with the current WUSV rules I think that the current rules are great as well & do a great help to the breed But i think that they could be made stricter. ![]() |

| According to KC rules, no, but the salient word is 'should' - to which the answer in my opinion is yes! The KC state that only 'visible' conditions should be taken into account and as judges are not (usually) qualified vets they cannot be expected to recognise 'invisible' conditions. Obviously a dog that is unsound through HD would be unlikely (one would hope!) to be placed by any judge, although without an x-ray no-one could actually confirm it was HD. |

| The answer to this is YES all health tests passed or otherwise should be made known to the judge it is the only way to ensure that only healthy dogs are put up and therefor helping the breed to reduce these diseases because most breeders will use the top winning dogs on their bitches jim h |

The K.C. should not give their blessing to dogs with bad hips picking up cc. |
