I'm looking for opinions on this female. She's just over a year old.

Also please let me know which pic you guys think shows off her features the best.

Once again I'm the handler and photographer, so please focus your comments on the dog, rather than the quality of the photos because yep, I already know she's over-stretched in the first two pics, and badly out of focus in the last

In the last pic the stack is better but her head should be looking like the top one.The middle ones aren't so good. The last one the legs are stacked much better. JMO

I meant comments on the dog, not the pics.

Translation from voncorrad=it displeases to say me you it it, this and the UGLY COPY of a shepherd German: short hair, straight omero: short back tail to hook, little LARGE angolata bitch

I will agree that the coat isn't so good and pgment should be darker but due to poor coat that doesn't help. The tail doesn't lay properly looks a bit too long in the thigh, short croup, and she looks a bit taller then a female should be but it is hatd to tell in a pic.

(Non mi scazzare i coglioni.)

Klaus, no, not really. Albeit I haven't been trying to bulk her up either. She was born 23 Jan 2009. She's just over a year so she still has a fair bit of filling out to do as she matures. I take her with me on hikes, and I cover several miles a week. She's a very active bitch that loves to run.

Her coat isn't in proper condition. You can tell she has feathering on her back legs, under her belly and on her tail. Is this what her coat is like all time? She does appear to be alittle thin. She appears to have no depth of chest. Her pigment (redish-tan) isn't bad, I've seen worse. She doesn't appear to be lacking in bone. Way too leggy in my opinion. Doesn't appear to have much body substance at all.  Just my honest opinion....What are you planning to do with her?  She is really young. I've seen some ugly ducklings blossom into beautiful swans. Maybe she could be one of them. But I don't think I would have alot of hope of that happening. But I don't have much patience when it come to that. I like to see consisitency from a puppy through the "uglies" to adult. Thats just me !!!!  I won't make comment on conformation.  I would rather stop at her phyiscal appearence.

No, she's just started into her pre-heat, blowing fur like it's going out of style *grimaces* Considering her age, I think it might also be the last vestiges of her puppy-coat dropping as well.

Insofar as my plans for her?

Well, honestly, I'm waiting to see. Her mother wasn't all that as a pup, but improved with age, so I'm hoping she does the same. I don't like to make a firm judgement until they're about 2yrs old. Either way, I'd like to compete with her a bit, and get her Schutzhund title. Her father's Sch3, mom's Sch2, so she's got the potential I think. But again, I'll have to wait and see.

I gotta ask, what's she looking at in the photos?  If I had to guess I'd say a cat.  I think you are lucky she's lean, my girlie porked out right before her first heat cycle I was so embarassed I didn't see it coming and let her get that big.   She's a good 10 lbs lighter than that now at 3 years,  I should burn all pictures of her at that age.

Relax the tail in the last picture and raise her head square and facing forward, she would look very nice!

She just needs to beef out, and that she'll do with age, i love the way she looks, keep working her, she'll look real perfect in about 6 months from now, please update us on her progress into adulthood

Bones in the shoulder are are nice and long. Angle could be a little better, but so could shoulders on most GSD.Maybe upper arm could be longer, looks ok in one pic and a tad short in others. High wither, back is firm and straight. rear angles acceptable. Color and pigment very nice. Croup falls off a little, length looks ok to me.

If she was in coat, she would not look so leggy. Here in the south, it is not unusual to see dogs blow coat down to almost nothing. The hook in the tail distracts some. Is there a knot that can be felt about 6 inches or so up from the tip. Feet look good.

IMHO,if her character is good, you have a nice puppy.

It wasn't a cat. Jack Russell with a chew-toy. lol

She stacks best with 3 people: me luring her, someone stacking her, and of course the photographer.

Being that it's only me, I had to improvise as best I could to get her to look forward, otherwise she kept looking back over her shoulder at me. She's very focused on me... which is good when doing obedience, but not so great when trying to get her to look elsewhere. It took a slew of pictures to even get these. There's a lot of out-takes showing the back of her head.

I'm going to try to get some vid-clips of her gaiting. It's my opinion that her color and movement are her best features.

Unfortunately while solo-stack shots are hard, solo-gaiting is dang near impossible and I'm not going to try. So someday I'll get those vids. But for now, not yet.

Yes, bottom line she's my dog and my friend. I'll take her as far as she can go in the sport, and at the end of the day I'll still have a good dog to relax on the couch with.

There you have it.... well said, and thats all that matters!!!!!
ENJOY your dog just the way she is.. Her love for you is unconditional, she passes no judgement on your looks or the way you are "put together" .  Its a good thing our dogs aren't critical like we are, cuz most of us won't be accepted as owners by our dogs... LOL!!!!

she has a beautiful head,  I really like the black on her face  and she seems to have very strong beautiful shaped ears.

Can't judge her coat too much,  she's just a year and went thru her first heat.  my Girls always look terrible at that age,  same with the weight. as for the tail,  I bet she just has a patch of hair at the base making it look like it is set higher.
I'd use the top photo.

I think she  just needs some maturing  and would love to see her in another 8 months.

Hi jc ,

First let me say ,I'd like to see this dog when she is in full coat ,
standing calmly and looking at a toy in your hand,( not in a stack ).

My opinion of her , from the photos' and taking into consideration
that she has a lot of maturing to do is as follows.

A good size ,medium  strong , black and tan , short coupled bitch of very good proportions.
Good head and expression ,with dark mask ,dark eyes and a good lower jaw.

Good withers (prefer the withers  to be a little higher ) ,
a firm back with a croup of good lay but short.
She has a hooked tail.

Good front angulations , with a short upper arm, of good lay ,
the hind angulations are very good.

Very good depth of chest, with a good underline and tuck up.
With age she needs to develope her fore chest and most important substance .

Hope to see her in full coat.

I also think she had a beautiful head! She will look like a totally different dog in a few months. She just needs to fill out is all. Most all of them go through a stage like this...

I think she has a pretty head too. My female looked horrible for awhile, short hair, leggy, thin nd ven though she did a lot of running, hardly any muscle tone... Just going through a stage. I bet before you know it, she will have a beautiful coat and will have filled out nicely.
I thought about posting a before and after of her but, decided not to. Too embarrassing. The uglies hit  my bitch bad LOL
Good Luck with her!
