| The puppies are now 16 days old....Way too cute. All have their eyes opened and most are walking (sort of). When is it ok to take them outside in my yard? |

| I would say at about 4 weeks or so, but I'm no pro. I would wait until they aren't wobbly walking. |

| My first question would be What provisions have you for them in the yard.....portable play pen ? Grass been treated for ants, fleas and do you know if any parvo has ever been on your property? tHERE ARE many liabilities to put four feet of a puppy on a ground DO you have something to rid FLIES from getting on them ? Mosquitos? Are there other animals in yard or were there? I do not put any pup on outside ground until all percautions taken and then in a controlled space with a puppy pen..YOU buy them at Tractor supply..... Yr |

| Here at about 4 - 5 weeks they are allowed out in a puppy pen on my concrete patio area so I can bleach it and keep it clean. |

| Provesions for outside: Puppy Play pen Lawn has been treated for fleas - Vet gave it to me. It is ok for puppies after it has dried Lawn was treated first part of March for Ants and continues with spot treatment. I was not going to put the puppies in the spot treated area. Other animals are on the yard, but will not be allowed access to the puppies (my cats, my dogs, wildlife). Parvo - I do not know. I do not have a solid concrete area. I do have an outdoor patio that has concrete stones. Will this work? What about a screened in porch with a wood floor? Only my dogs and cats have had access to this porch. (although a stray cat got in there twice this last winter before we could put a stop to it). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I am not talking about leaving them out there. I am just talking about the introducing of another experience. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I have seen videos from breeders where puppies are playing outside. What was done so that this was possible? Especially since the 1st round of shots is not until 7 weeks. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ |

| I would not take them outside - even under controlled circumstances before 5 weeks old. That is a lot of stress for young pups. We would give them new experiences, such as walking over a "crinkly" garbage bag at 4-5 weeks, and exposing them to different flooring material - like carpet, tile. and loud noises like dropping metal food pans near them, etc. They will have an easier time following you outside at or after 5 weeks - and you can tell a lot about differences in temperament under those conditions-- just be observant and really look at how they act and react to new things. It will be easy to pick out the leader and the followers - after a couple of romps outside. (For added fun - add a cat to the mix! tee hee) |

| LOL Oh Pineridge....Adding a cat to the mix made a way too funny vision..... Ok....I will be patient and wait until after 5 weeks. (side note: The puppies are way tooo cute. I know that the breeders on this website have been doing this for years and the novalty of new puppies have worn some what thin... For me as my 1st and only litter....This is great. They are starting to growel and bark. Two of them totally "tare into" the squeek toy. All they do is growel and bark, but it is so cute) |

Believe me the JOY & NOVELTY never wears off. And if it does it is time to stop doing it  .I just love all of my puppies and they are such a joy especially when the litter produces exactly what you are looking for. Edited to add responce to your question. Forgot to answer your question, my puppies go outside in a puppy pen about 4 weeks if the weather is good but mum is always with them. |

| I agree with both above but I believe as a long time breeder, mine are on wire kennels in an airconcitioned building in birthing boxes that allow play time NO wood floors...wood absorbs PEE and the bacteria and smell is impossible to remove.. concrete or blocks are fine...put a puppy pen on the concrete blocks..you can buy the 12 x 12 ones and set them in some sand, close together , and then rinse off after they go back inside. I know you are not gonna leave them out long but you have no idea how much Mess 6 PUPS OR MORE CAN MAKE in an hour...they pee and poop but MoM of course will be with them until they start getting around 6 weeks and then I seperate often. I hope your worming program is in play now and that is important . FLIES lay eggs and puppies lick and put everything from A to Z in their mouths...I use pine shavings around the play pen on one side...just for easy sweep up...it is great....Most feed stores have the non commercial bags from some lumber person...DO not pup a lot of pine shavings,,,just a long wide strip down one side to help cover up quickly and it smells good.. Keep an eye on the pups to make sure they do not want to eat it...MINE are too busy growling and playing and I put toys in with them only outside in play pen..PICK up toys and put up...so bugs do not get on their salavia on the toys.. I hate flies this time of year..that is why I usually do not put outside until shots are done..then it is funny to have them follow you over logs, in leaves, and teach them to go up and down the steps of your home or some such...they learn so fast and they must learn noises by your design. Oh I cannot wait....Lord grant me patients (and right now of course).  I will wait a few more weeks (at least till the pups are 5 weeks) before I take them outside.Yes, worming started this week. Flys do seem to be absolutly horrible this year and summer has not even started. Music stimulation also started this week; along with other sounds and voices. It is so cute when they started to hear. Their ears would go up and some of them growel at the different sounds. |
