As part of my ongoing efforts to help the hoemless and abandoned dogs of the world, I participate in an annual fund-raising event for the Indianapolis Humane Society called the Mutt Strut.  I normally don't cast such a wide net looking for sponsors but due to the Humane Society's having taken in so many animals displaced by last months tornadoes in southern Indiana, this has been a particularly busy (and costly) spring for them.  Please consider supporting Axel and I if you can and thank you for looking even if you can't.

Follow this link: http://register.indymuttstrut.org/site/TR/MuttStrut/MuttStrut2012?px=1141029&pg=personal&fr_id=1100 and click on the Support Keith! button to make a contribution.

OK, I just did.  Hope it is a great day for you and Axel. And that all those homeless mutts, find good homes.

Thank you so much, everyone who has contributed (so far); I really appreciate the support!  Axel says grrrr...ruff!

Thanks for the kudos, Randy, but you have me confused with someone else.  Is there another devilishly handsome guy in the GSD world named Keith?

A couple of things I've found interesting about this event...

1. I keep getting emails from the organizers about how to train with Axel for the event.  The Indianapolis 500 track is 2 1/2 miles.  At the point at which I need to worry about any dog of mine (who isn't geriatric, of course) not being able to walk 2 1/2 miles, it's time for me to get out of dogs...any surface, any weather.  Seriously?

2. While we often have our little differences of opinion on this forum, I've got to say that you guys and girls rock!  Most of you don't know me from Adam but are willing to step up and do your part whenever and however you can and I think that's awesome!  In contrast, I posted my sponsor link to my Facebook page...people who are supposed to be by friends and my family and all I've gotten so far is crickets.  I am so going to beat them down with how generous my real dog friends on this forum are!

Needing to train for 2.5 miles is beyond pathetic. How sad.

Caleb and I used to walk 7 miles every night, really late, in the summer. It was awesome. I miss that.

If you were following me, you'd have known that I donated before I posted that. I know you're getting older (which is why we used to dawdle around corners), so I'll cut you a break.

Thank you so much Peter and Carol!  I'm now at 46% of my goal and within $50.00 of the top 20 fund raisers for the event!

PS. If you have contributed and I haven't mentioned you personally yet, I haven't forgotten nor will I.  I'll recap all of the wonderful, generous people who've stepped up to help early next week!  Thank you all!

Sorry Keith, literally every bit of spare cash I had has already been donated to Sadie. But I do think you are doing a great job for a great cause - good luck with the walk and enjoy! What great people there are here.

I'd love to have a rabbit if I could, Bhaugh. Next to dogs, they are my favorite animals.

No worries, Abby; Sadie's situation is also important and more immediate.  Thank you and everyone else for helping her.
