gsdtwo, you may have not said they're ruining the breed...but when you claim sables are drifting away from the traditional look........when really, they're not drifting away.... because like mentioned before, many of the founding dogs were sable. Well...

Here is some very early ancestry of someone's working dog. (I don't remember whose. lol) But it was a sable working dog. Thought it might be interesting to you, gsdtwo. ![]()

Boomer waves back at you. This is a sable GSD. He may have ruined a whole lot of peoples days, but I don't think he's ruining the breed. |

Sables are only sable--NO

Gsdtwo Why is the white German Shepherd now an "American German Shepherd" ? Because its in America. In Switzerland the same thing is a Swiss White Shepherd; In Canada its a Canadian White Shepherd In Timbuctoo its bound to be a Timbuctonian White Shepherd before long. $$$$$$$ !

German Shepherd Dog, oh come on, no black sables? :) Slamdunc, Boomer looks awesome.....but I hate to tell you, "Shepherds" don't have ears back like that. Surely he has some lab in his pedigree. As much as I like my little black sable pup right now, I can't wait to see how he looks a year from now for that matter.

GSDguy, His ears are back because he is submissive and fearful. He just got the news he wasn't a real GSD! You could see it in his eyes but the sunglasses are hiding them. I'm going to coax him out from behind the couch and tell him it's ok.
by GSDguy08 on 19 April 2012 - 21:04 |
haha, hopefully he'll be ok. Just curious, did you teach him to wave like that?

Siantha, who's the dog in the last picture you posted?

This thread has been amusing. gsdtwo: Here's the AKC standards for the gsd, notice "color." http://www.akc.org/breeds/german_shepherd_dog/ Here's the list of official AKC breeds (notice there is no "American white shepherd"): http://www.akc.org/breeds/complete_breed_list.cfm

GSDguy, check it out for yourself or disagree with me, don't care. Try to register your SABLE as a black sable and see how that goes. Good luck. AKC, SV and all other registries say only sable, sorry. Black sable is made up by the shamwow man. Got a black bridge for sale if you are interested.

German Shepherd dog, I was being sarcastic, no need to get snarky. Aside from that you can't deny that some Shepherds are more of a black sable than others. I mean look at the show line dog a pic was posted of.....and then go look at Iltis von der Wildsau's picture....... I'm not saying you "can" register them as that.....I'm just saying....
