participating in the usa sieger show this year in indianapolis by ILGSDs on 01 January 2012 - 06:30 |
I am going to the sieger show this year in Indianapolis with a puppy under 12 months old, and I want to be sure that when I get there there isn't going to be a hoop that I forgot to jump through in order to be able to participate. 1. I know the dog has to have a microchip or tattoo, if microchip I must provide a reader. What else do I have to provide besides the AKC registration certificate? I dont have the extended pedigree, only the basic certificate, and I dont have anything that connects the microchip number with the papers. Is there some other registry I need to register the dog with or do I have to do something else to match the microchip with the dogs papers? Do I need something besides the basic AKC certificate? I read this http://siegershowusa.com/2012/terms-conditions.html but it is not very helpful to me as to me it isn't clear to help me understand what all I need to do and where I can do it, etc. It says I need proof of proper vaccinations, but it dosnt list what vaccinations are required. It says something about a non member fee of $35, but then it says that you must provide proof of membership to WUSV? So you have to be a member of one of these clubs? Or can a non member participate by just paying them the $35? I do not want to be a member, this is the only show they host that I will be attending and I am not aware of any other benefits of being a member. If anyone would be kind enough to clarify or provide me with a checklist of what I need to enter I would be very grateful. I wanted to call the people in charge but could not find a phone number so I am asking here. Thanks in advance for the help!

I believe that you do need a AKC certified 4 generation pedigree with the AKC Certificate of Registration . They will have microchip readers (don't buy one). There is an online form where your Vet can verify the microchip number, take the completed form with you. Get your vet to give you a run sheet on the vaccination history, he'll do that for free probably. You vet follows the same state and USDA laws on vaccination as any other vet in the US. If the dog is under 1 year when it competes there is no need to have it individually registered with USCA

I believe you will need.... - AKC registration certificate - official AKC 4-generation pedigree (available through the AKC) - tattoo or microchip verification - there is a form on USCA's web site - USCA membership (or SV membership) to meet the WUSV requirement - proof of rabies vaccination (I do not believe this is explicitly required, but since this is required by law in most states I always take a copy to dog events) My understanding is that a dog under 12 months does NOT need to be USCA registered to participate.

thanks! Its good to know I wont need a microchip reader! That saves $300. My dogs have rabies, parvo the distemper combo vaccine and bordatella. Will that be acceptable?
