| I don't think Judron is saying he is the end all to be all....I think that Judron is saying that a knowledgable dog person who is a breeder can see past the points, to traits that are part of the dog's genetic make up, and not training. Leastways, I can see that. Sure there are other dogs that possess this also, but there are many dogs that the training translating into points; is stronger than the genetic imprint.....and good breeders are looking for those dogs like Satoris and others like him. IMO |

| NICE dog. That must be quite a feeling being a helper, and having a dog come at you like a speeding bullet. It must take a bit of courage on the helpers part to catch something like that. Impressive to watch. I can't imagine being the one he's flying toward! |

| What do you think get's the points in the Protection phase of a competition, It is the Obed of the Dog, its nerves of which it must be in complete control and of course the Power of the Bite and how it Bites. There are a great many dogs out there who do just that. However what we do not see is but from one competition, We need to see many such videos of Dogs at different places to see how they react then. Yes, you can look beyond the Points but after all is said and done there are many as good and some better and stronger. But as said he is a very nice Dog indeed i am not knocking the dog at all only commenting on what is shown on video in a competition. What i look for is consistency every time a dog is on the work field one that shows the same each time it works. Steve1 |

I posted the video of Gator because I wanted to hear what people thought of a dog. I am very familiar with trials and the point system. I did not say Gator was the best of the best of the best. I do say he is a very nice dog that impressed me with his power and presence. Some can see it...some can't. I have no problem admitting that:-) |

| What we need to see is a few videos of a very good young inexperienced Dog's working on the Sleeve. I only wish i had a video so i could take some of the dogs in our club including my Gina but i do not only photos and they do not really tell us a lot. Now those sort of videos would be interesting to get the critique of others on here. As regards Satoris, as said he is in the top flight as proven by results and who would not be over the moon if they owned him. Steve1 |

Just comparing the bite work and not the blind search or secondary work, the dog definitely has more power in the work and the grip than the 1st dog. He just abuses the front half helper and grips were much more powerful. The back half was a little different, short grip on the re-attack and the dog was a little jumpy on the approach and ended up in a down position and acted a little funny alongside the helper,,don't know why. |

| For me I want to see how the dog conducts theirself ONCE they are engaged. Do they try to dominate the helper and to what degree successful or are they just going through a routine albeit everything nice and tidy. Domination is not always tidy, but it is effective when controlled. I am well aware of the necessity for precision, for maximum points, but when I go to trials I am not as interested in the routine as I am the dog. Others have different priorities and I respect that, but for me its the dog's inner self that I can see, as opposed to the training of the dog. I am not knocking training by any means, but I prioritize different aspects than some....either way a good dog is a good dog....I just try to find the special ones. |

| Case in point, when a dog looks back to an approaching helper.....definitelt faulty from scoring perspective. But I know from training that some dogs do it from insecurity, others do it from insufficient training, and I have seen dogs that were "beasts" that would do it as a "lure" in hopes the man would move so they could reengage. So when I see that, I have to factor in the body of work of the dog in helping me determine why this occurred. From a breeding point some of the reasons don't bother me at all, but from a training and sport perspective....it is faulty. Its all good depending on your perspective. |

For me the difference is Gator makes sport work Fillipe makes protection work, more mistakes (point wise particularly in the guarding) from Fillip but much more DOG power |

| My husband saw Filliph at the BSP, he was #1 on my list to breed Gana to, until I heard he passed away. Don't know what happened to him. Cherokee had some very nice sons, we had one too, who also passed away young.... Louise |
