Awww! That's sad news. I saw him with his owner, Dan Smith, at the 2007 Canadian Natiionals. Hiis muzzle was greying, but he still had that spark in his eye:![]() |

| Handsome man he was, and a great contributor. He would have been 14 in 4 months. |

| Jim...the dog that couldn't, wouldn't, shouldn't....and did anyway. They said he was a working dog amd he would NEVER do good in the American show ring....and did. Then they said he was a "show" dog and would never earn a Sch title....and he did When the critics on both sides couldn't put him down they said he was a one of a kind dog, and that he would never produce anything worth a dang...then he did. He was what the breed should be. He didn't listen to what people said he couldn't do. He was strong, he was gentle. He was masculine and had the look of eagles in his eyes and in his heart. He was a protector of children and the weak. His presence could not be denied, by anyone lucky enough to meet him. One of the Greats crossed the bridge yesterday. My expected litter from his son will be all the more precious. Thank you JIm for your contributions to the breed. Our sincerest condolences to Dan and Marilyn. |

| Yes, very sad that more didn't follow his example, Robin. Jim was truly one of the great ones, and I am so glad I got to meet him in person, and take his picture. |
