I acquired Lissy as a three year old. She was raised in a family with children and lots of visitors and I think that was good because I think I might otherwise have seen a sharper side to her. She had solid nerves in all ordinary situations but she had an edge to her that was protective and she would try to defend me under threat. She was the mother of several police dogs, one a decorated one whose police dog owner/handler wrote me wanting another one just like his dog when the time came to replace, because he considered his dog ideal. He especially liked how his dog had the right mix of aggression and discrimination - the ability to respond correctly when facing threat and non threat during, for example, real life house searches. She had another son that wound up as a police patrol dog near Ukiah that had similar attributes to his half brother. What I am trying to say is Lissy had these natural instincts in abundance, but, frustratingly, unlike her sons, she herself was slightly lacking in nerve strength under threat,

As for Schutzhund, Lissy could respond with aggression in bite work, though she couldn't sustain it under heavy threat, she had good prey, outstanding rock solid grip (which she passed on) and was an excellent tracking dog.

One other thing: There was something very elemental or primitive about Lissy I can't really describe in words, but, for example, I always truly believed she would have had the instincts to survive in the wild, even raise a litter of pups on her own in the wild. I couldn't prove that of course, but I felt it intuitively. She wasn't one of my very favorite dogs, but I had a lot of respect for her. A little bit more nerve strength under threat (and probably a little more energetic personality) to go along with her abundance of other good instincts and I would have been in love.

This is a dog pedigree, used by breeders and breed enthusiasts to see the ancestry and line-breeding of that individual dog. The pedigree page also contains links to the dogs siblings and progeny (if any exist). For dog owners with purebred dogs this is an excellent resource to study their dog's lineage.
