Nothing else to say, Mac...
Dragan pretty well nailed the point, more than sad, but true.

I understand Susie I feel much the same. Sad.
The founder of the breed v Stephanitz forecast everything that have been witnessing for some time now. His comments saying the biggest danger will be the money men. To think he predicted this in 1899. I think that the SV could have done more.
Take care Susie

Susie:
Here in the USA, we have a lot of suburban households that want a good dog. Most don't want a competition GSD capable of 4-4 scores. Having said that, there are a lot of breeders that will go with whatever the SV is rewarding at present. My male is free of Remo or Groovy. He is the product of two dogs I bought. One in Germany and the other in Serbia.Fred's paternal grandmother was a Kirschental female daughter of Isko v Hühnegrab. The father is a Wildsteigerland male.
On the maternal side, his grandfather is the product of two Kirschental dogs and his maternal grandmother is a Piste Trophe female. Fred is already SG1.
Now, clubs being what they are, there is absolutely no incentive for anyone to pretend to succeed with a Remo-free dog. So, pardon me if I don't feed the alligator, I'm not going to support a scheme that doesn't support me as a owner, breeder and competitor. The SV works for a small group that are interested in making money and spoiling the breed. In '23, the eventual VA1 missed the long bite. A part of the exercise in which he is (or should be) in attack... He is a pretty dog, but in my book, he should have been no better than VA4. That year's VA2 was sold away to China.
The truth is that large breeders have high overhead. To develop a bloodline you have to create 100 pups per year. What is the number of litters allowed per kennel? 20?
And yes. I deplore the practice of putting together glitzy pedigrees that just do not complement. If you are going to buy dogs, you either buy a lot of dogs, or you should know the bloodlines. And there's a lot of ignorant smooth talkers out there selling $5000.00 pups from males linebred on Remo out of a Remo great-grand-daughter... I truly have no interest in campaigning after a VA title at my age. Along with Fred, I have a couple of von Arlett females, a Margman female and a herding lines female I never got around to breeding.
If you are breeding to make money, you will fail. You breed because you know that what is being shown and sold has drifted away from the standard. I've had Shepherd's since the 1960's. I breed to keep one or two. The rest are dispersed to good homes for much less than the numbers bandied here. Sadly, it is the money changers who are in charge at the SV, as well as in this country.
