Dogs “not found” when adding a pedigree

Why is it that when I add a dog to the database and try to add their parents, the parents are “not found” when I know for a fact they have a PDB entry?

Just tried entering a new dog. Her mother is in the PDB. But when I try to add her mother to her pedigree she’s “not found”. And trying to add her using the pedigree (with the green arrow) just creates a new pedigree for the parent.

You need to go to Edit dog and enter the dogs under the Parents type name in under Father and Mother enter it there not using the green arrow.

Checking you were trying to enter a duplicate Ranita's TNT is already in the GSD database

I did do that. That was the first thing I tried. She didn’t show up.

The autofill feature would pull up some dogs with the Ranita kennel name but not all. It doesn’t allow you to scroll the list.

I typed in Ranita’s and it wouldn’t show me any dogs at all.

It’s very hit or miss and I don’t know what the trick is. Like, I finally got it to work but I don’t know how.

I wasn't trying to enter a duplicate. That's what the site decided to do.

If you go to Pedigree Search the dog will come up.

Xeph, I've heard apostrophes and other punctuation can cause problems. If that happens again, I'd try entering the name with the 's' but without the apostrophe, and see if that works.

Sunsilver, Xeph entered a duplicate dog that had the apostrophes so that was not the problem. When you enter a duplicate dog and try to add to that dog the PDB system will not allow it.

No, a duplicate dog got registered as a result of not finding the parent I was searching for. I don’t think you understand the order of what happened

When I try and search the dog I get this

When I enter an apostrophe the wrong names show up. When I do it without the apostrophe I don’t see any result at all

It might be the Browser you are using. Try Firefox, Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge to see if you get different results.

I get the dog each time I type the dog's name in.

Now you need to go copy and paste the name add Mother it will show up.
