i think those "DDR" dogs will do just fine as a companion pets.
from bitch pedigree quite obvious at least last 3 generations was nurtured for that purpose.

TIG
good research and very well put in words.

Yellow, when we start to get answers to questions, it is marvellous how much background can be traced. TIG has done a great job of more in-depth research; and being in the right country helps. But even I have heard about this bloke before ! And therefore I re-double my earlier point about not buying just from videos.

welp, thanks to Tig, we now have the rest of the story.

this thread has been addressed so far by GSD folk who work, sport, show, train, HOT, rescue, LE handler/trainer, AKC, CKC, SV, SV in U.S., UK, first hand, real life DDR experience, and apologize to any left out, as well as folk who have experience breeding in most venues listed, most with many, many years experience.

people who have many different ideas and experience what a GSD should be.

and the thing they all 100% agree on is this is not a breeding that any would consider.

so, yellow, waiting to hear what you think and if these responses were helpful.

You make a good point Valk. These must be the new "DDR" that are so gentle, friendly, and make wonderful therapy dogs that I've been hearing about on similar websites.
I think the OP could do alot better, a working line GSD puppy from a breeder who health tests, titles, and trains outside of the backyard seems to range between $1500-3000 in the US. The fact that this guy is asking $3800 is the dumbest thing I've seen in awhile. The puppies he's selling should be a few hundred bucks.

Another thing to add...and I cant stress this enough, if you are interested in doing any kind of training with the dog, buy from a breeder who does those things with their dogs and has been for some time, even better if they are somewhat local to you.

Hmm 8 days silence

Rik perhaps your original thought re promoting was spot on and op didn't like the light of day.

I can't thank this thread enough! Thank you all for your help with this.

@Koots - I am in Arizona, USA.

I have found a local breeder here in AZ that I have met and seen her dogs. I am on her waiting list but I later found out that her dogs do not have black genes. I am looking for an all-black German shepherd at this time.

If you or anyone on this thread know of any REPUTABLE and trustworthy breeders who may have all-black german shepherds, I am all ears! I am willing to travel and pay to ship as well.

@Tig - That's the one!

I am not rushing this at all. I am doing a ton of research and want to do this right. I am not a breeder and don't necessarily plan to be, so I wouldn't say I am looking for the top-of-the-line GSD lines with the best titling dogs out there. I am looking for a companion, BUT I want to make sure I get a dog with good health (obviously, as does anyone) and one that has a good temperament. Temperament is very important to me because I have little kids in the house. Plus as I mentioned, I have been there done that with maniac-tempered dogs before (my fault - I didn't do my homework before getting the dog!) and I don't have the time and bandwidth to deal with that in my life at this time. Maybe when the kids move out I can take on those types of "projects." Ha!

I'm having fun learning and asking questions! But I tend to be a research until I have analysis paralysis and then months, years pass and I still haven't pulled the trigger because "I need to learn this and that first." At this point, I'd like to start making calls to breeders to get this ball rolling.

By the way, I wish there was a way for this platform to notify me via email when there are responses to my thread. I had no idea anyone else had jumped in on this convo after my last comment! Apologies again for the late responses. I'll start just checking this feed daily. Thanks again everyone! This has been so helpful for a newbie like me.

Yellow. First let me apologize for my last post. Life happens. I more than most should understand that.

I am also going to follow this post with a private message to you so also check your inbox on the forum.

I am happy to hear you have moved on from the litter you posted about. You are actually in a wonderful place to find what you want within driving distance tho I do stand by my advice to thoroughly check out what is available to you locally.

If there is a need to go further CA has many reputable breeders ( I'm in the Central Valley). I will send you some recommendations and I'm sure other posters will speak up now that we know what part of the universe you are in.

Good luck and kudos for doing your homework.
