Hi,

Sorry if my english is not good enough.
Some weeks ago I bought a puppy and I want to check if it really is the son of who said the breeder.
I can see in the database that the "theoric father" have DNA: Gepr

How should I process this type of checks? Where and how should I send it?

EDIT: This is for Europe, FCI is the responsible of this?

Thanks
Best Regards

Contact the registry in which the dog is registered,.They should guide you.

How can I know the registry where the father is registered?

Sounds like the SV & VDH in Germany, if you already found him on here and it says "DNA Gprv" (the German 'gerproof' means his DNA is on file). You can check that, by calling up his pedigree page again through 'Pedigree Search'. The Registry is shown with the dog's Registration Number.
Contact the SV via their website; but you will need to get a company to take your pup's DNA first, too, so there is a Code for them to compare with.

Have you never been supplied with a pedigree and registration papers for your purchased puppy ? You should ask the breeder you bought him from why you have not got those, if that's the case.

I have the pedigree and registration papers but that does not mean that the puppy is of the litter the breeder tell you as they can give you the puppy of another litter, and that unfortunately is often done.

I recognise that, misaneg, but the paperwork usually tells you which country / registry is involved by having the Reg. numbers on the names of sire & dam. You did ask us "How can I know the registry where the father is registered ?"

If you have paperwork, you should know where the - supposed - sire was from & his number for reference when contacting that registry. It is the only place you can start to find out the answer to your first question. If you can submit a DNA result for your puppy and it is checked against the DNA on record of that named stud dog, it won't tell you which dog is actually the sire instead; but it can tell you if it looks as though the breeder you bought from has told you a lie. Which presumably you already suspect. And then you can see if you have any legal redress.
