Okay, let's all take a break and go train our dogs...

Lovely day here, and snow is finally melting.

Joan, you know I respect you, but gawd help the person who get on your wrong side! Omg Smile

Ok..got it ! The video wasn't yours. Just the pics of the dogs pulling a sled, and a cart, and jumping rope, and you riding a bull, and managing a paint horse with no lead.... All I can say to that is...HOW FREAKIN COOL IS THAT !!

And, I might not be the smartest in the room...but I'm thinking, if you can train all those critters to do what they're doing in the pics....your dogs prolly wouldn't be biting no younguns..... Course, thats just a hunch... :-)

A little late, I missed a couple of pages...

Joanro, you said: "Imagine that, Susie, dogs are family members and share the home, living indoors with the humans here in the USA."
My later answer: Is this the reason why that many GSDS/dogs as a whole rot or die in shelters? Because they are beloved family members?

About alarm systems/dogs - I too believe a dog is the better choice, but a dog needs education, socialisation, and the chance to be just a dog.

Dogs and the City - most accidents with dogs happen in cities, kept by people who have no clue/don't care about the needs of dogs.

And in almost all cases it's not the dogs fault but the owners.

You don't need to like it, but a lot of people are no responsible dog owners, have no clue about animals as a whole, but are willing to buy a working dog breed just because the dog barks and looks dangerous.

I think that's a pretty good guess, HerBazhen!  Thumbs Up

"Joan, you know I respect you, but gawd help the person who get on your wrong side!"

God help me? LOL! Why would I need anyone's help when dealing with someone who cannot even manage to answer a simple question--which I have asked of many breeders and gotten straight answers to--without screaming that I am a "jackwad!" "fukking ideot!" "Mtrfkr!" I have no respect for a person like that, nor is there any reason why I should.

And anyone who thinks the situation I described can't possibly happen must not go out in public with their dogs much. No one has eyes in the back of their head, and I've had little kids come flying out of nowhere and seize the dog by the nose, cram their hands down his ears, etc. I've also had kids ask to pet the dog and when given the ok to pet him do something stupid instead--like peel the dog's lips back and massage his teeth. That dog just kind of sighed, rolled his eyes, and sat patiently while the kid's mom came flying over and removed the kid.

Yes, Swarnendu, I do expect a breeder to know his dogs well enough so that he knows exactly how his dogs will behave in public with toddlers. Others have different criteria and that's fine with me. But I don't want the dogs they want, and neither do my clients.

Susie, I cannot be responsible for every bad human who is not a good dog owner.
Sounds like you have jumped the shark, lately.
Are you advocating that the owners/families who love their dogs as family members should be punished because of the disgusting lowlifes who did not take care of their dogs?
I have read a lot about horrible things happening to children and girls in Germany by the foreign nationals who are flowing into your country...using your philosophy of bad dog owners, shouldn't all your foreigners be condemned, as you are condemning all city dwellers in the USA who have family dogs?
Just a thought.

JonRob enough about the question.  Just to again answer what Joanro wrote as an answer  "They don't bite kids"

Now drop the crap.

by joanro on 21 April 2018 - 20:04

Jonrob, you don't want a puppy from a breeder as you pretend, but you want to show the world how annoying you have learned to be.

Life is short, jonrob, try to find some happy place before your time is up.

Western, we posted at same time. Thank you for moderating.

The human / dog problem is no American problem, but a problem in every highly industrialized country.

You don't need to worry about refugee problems in my country - I am proud my country was and still is willing to help people in need - we are still able to live our "normal" life - the very few really bad situations are always worth international news - only bad news are good news - after all we are not as naive as we have been in the beginning, trying to weed out the bad apples now, but people in need, no matter their religion, are still welcome, and that's good.

So JonRob, some advices for the breeders how they should test their stock before breeding?

What about the dog has a ball in his mouth, slippery floor, a toddler running in and yanking the ball straight out of the dogs mouth?

Or, something like an unfed dog left with a baby unattended?

I'm totally with you. All breeders should sign a guarantee that their dogs wouldn't bite a kid under any circumstances.
