I have a puppy that I am trying to place and I was just contacted by the same party for the second time.

You might have been contacted as well by someone who writes in broken English, says they saw your "puppies for sale", and they do not ask about the dog at all. They will be focused on "your last price" and give you instructions about taking your ad down, that some agent with arrange shipment so you will be told nothing about who they are, and that you need to follow their instructions right away to not upset some buyer. And they will ask for your personal info so they can send you a cashiers check.

This smells all sorts of funny.

I am starting to think they might not even be dog brokers but an identity theft ring. The phone number appears to come out of the Los Angeles area and is a toll-free number. Today the person told me that he or she just moved to Maryland and they have a poor connection.

Chances are, they may be constantly changing their phone number but the one I got today was 1-818-855-7829. 818 is a Los Angeles area code. 855 is for prefix for toll free calls.

I blocked them.

Tell them to piss off.

Also, this party might email you if they don't text. So their email address may be some string of numbers and letters, a mispelled name, or a name that does not fit a foreigner.
