Has anyone gotten a GSD from Zwinger Von Himmel Kennels in Maine, or Grasso Shepherds in Connecticut? I'd love to hear from anyone with personal experience of either of these breeders.

Hi Lacey,
I have no experience with zwinger von himmel,but do have with erich at grasso shepherds. After much research last year,i decided to have erich pick a puppy for me on his trip to germany in july. We spoke at length on the phone numerous times and i was confident with my decision. Erich called me from germany to say that he was not pleased with the dogs he saw,and would not be coming home with any. He stated that his reputation was more important than the financial reward possible sub standard dogs would bring. A big financial loss for him,as he had numerous people paying for his expertise and knowledge with the breed. He offered me a puppy from one of his litters in late fall. Unfortunately that timing did not fit my family's needs,so i passed and purchased a puppy elsewhere. He promptly returned my deposit with an apology and offered his services in the future.
I have since then met one of of erich's dogs and was very impressed. The owners loved erich. He is unquestionably an honorable person who cares deeply about his reputation and the job he does for his clients. Hopefully this gives you some insight as to the character of erich grasso.

You were lucky to deal with importer of integrity, because this is not a unique story these days. Good luck!
