Susie: About your X-Huskies and your Fox Terriers - you are a very talented trainer, you pretty sure know how to select (!) good working prospects,

I picked 8 week old puppies, males, and the pup that came to me for attention with no rolling over or submission...that's all.

Susie: and you surely are always able to get the best out of the animals you train.

That's what I was told when I trained and titled my gsds....that titles didn't mean my dogs were any good. To that I say damned if I comply and title or not. So after three dogs that I titled, I decided to test them instead of train for titles.

Susie: No comparison, though -

I assume you are saying the same thing as what people have said...titles only mean I was able to train them...damned if you do, damned if you don't.

we will never know if your sled dogs would have been able to go an official sled dog race, simply because they didn´t need to; and we will never know if your Terriers would have been great in a real hunting scenario, again, simply because they didn´t need to.
I guess you would have been able to compete with all of them, but that´s based on your skills as animal trainer.

Susie: we will never know if your sled dogs would have been able to go an official sled dog race, simply because they didn´t need to;

A sled dog race is no validation of quality sled dog team....all they need to do is run fast following the track if sprint race. And they don't even need the basic commands of steering as in 'gee/haw' and whoa for stop.
In fact, they even use GSH Pointers in sprint teams. In endurance race, the dogs still only need to follow the trail. Sled dog teams are primarily for transportation, racing is sport.
Evaluating a good dog team by racing ability, is like evaluating a PSD by how fast it can race on a dog track.

Susie: and we will never know if your Terriers would have been great in a real hunting scenario, again, simply because they didn´t need to.

Actually, my terriers could and did hunt in real scenario...I have 'ancient' pictures of the mother dog at ten years old and one son and daughter after they dug out a possum and killed it. It was denned up under a huge oat stump and the three dogs worked together to get it out. They were supper ratters in horse barns, one male swallowed a big rat he caught when siblings tried t take it...tossed it up and caught the rat's face, swallowed it head first, toe nails and all!

Susie: I guess you would have been able to compete with all of them, but that´s based on your skills as
animal trainer.

The huskies worked all over the USA and Canada earning my living, performing as trained....day after day, after riding in the horse trailer for hundreds of miles and 2500 miles one trip in 45 below weather, 65 below wind chill...they never missed a beat. Harder than 'competing' in anything.

The point is, the terriers and the huskies were able to be trained to do what they were bred for. Random terriers ( akc champion sire and dam's parents) and random huskies...same as my 'random' GSL that I bought for a companion as a 9 week puppy. Decided to finnish him (train and title him) because the club trainer told me I'd never get him titled , just send his papers to Germany cause the dog would never make it....8 months later I put schh1 on him.

On the internet our dogs can do anything.

VK, I still want to know which puppies ( your video ) you selected and why.
I tried to anser the question you asked Swarn ( page 22 or 23 ), but you gave no answer...
I am really curios, cause I know nothing about this breed.

Wink SmileWell, the first puppy I chose left in the first opportunity, and I never dared to comment any further on that.

Susie you need a variety of skill sets in a team for it to work, all dog's can't be the same.

Personally I liked the one or two that had the least movement, they got to the correct position every time and had the best eye contact. Their footwork was outstanding while they kept their body almost still and crouched. They also casted out wide which is everything to me etc.

Most tend to pick the fastest, most aggressive, most in the sheep's face one that does a lot of chasing and activity. Those dogs are usually good inside a pen with 1000 sheep packed in like sardines.

Gathering scattered sheep over 2000 acres where you have no visual contact with your dog for hours needs a different dog.

Vk: On the internet our dogs can do anything.

No. In *real life* my dogs could do anything. Internet takes too much typing and time to describe my dogs..
You try feeble denigration by referencing 'antique' rodeo pictures or whatever...I had a very full life doing what I wanted, no holds barred and accomplished more than most can only dream of doing...when my knees got too crippled up for me to be able to ride my horses anymore, I was forced to retire at 53. I didn't start doing sch till I was 54. So I didn't even start doing sch till I was older than you are now, and was able to accomplish more than you, even with my screwed up knees. You still probly could not keep up with me, but that's because I have drive, like all the dogs I have had in the past and the ones I have now.

On the internet, you claim you would title your dog if you bred him.....how you gonna do that when the clubs you went to kicked you and your dog off the field, run off because you had zero control. Plus, you said you'd breed him to a Mali bitch, at least then you don't have an unattainable title standing in your way.
You act like a know it all, telling everybody what they should do, when you cant do sheeit. But post and watch videos.

At least my opinions are based on wide range of personnal experience and I dont dictate to people what and how to live...you on the otherhand, try to be dictator in chief and base your dictates on insults and internet bs. Total lack of authentisity.

by vk4gsd on 30 April 2017 - 22:04

Yeah lady whatever.

Thing is I am not trying to defend my practices or sell anything to the public.

by Swarnendu on 30 April 2017 - 22:04

Actually vk, the pups nearest to the sheep had to move the least..

by vk4gsd on 30 April 2017 - 23:04

OK, sure.

Sux to know I been wrong all this time....live and learn on the internet.
